#53 Posted: 2/3/2005 10:39:55 PM I really have no idea how it makes sense that NY games are fixed. It hurts the players, the NBA because it lose the biggest media market in the world, and the bookies because now no one wants to bet the Knicks. |

Give it up bro, Im not buying your story. You have an opinion and you are entitled to it. I just dont see it your way. I guess its just perception over reality.

#58 Posted: 2/4/2005 3:55:39 AM reality is games are not fixed. everytime someone loses a bet they say "fixed". i never see any proof offered to back these comments up. in the past 10-15 years there have been 2 or 3 incidents in college (n.western & ariz st.) & they always involved 1 or 2 players that were shaving pts for a couple grand everytime they did it. nba, nfl & mlb players aren't going to fix games for $5000 or even $50,000 a game. their careers would be over, & all legal & ilegal gambling would be under intense scrutiny making life miserable for the people that make money off sports wagering (organized crime & casinos & offshore books) fixing is the worst thing for these groups. besides, the news media that has it's eyes & ears everywhere would have broken a story long ago by now about a fixed game. none of this has ever been exposed. why? the only professional sport i believe may be fixed at times is boxing & that's because you have guys like don king leading the sport. it's a sport that is still run by ex-cons & guys that have GED'S instead of PHD'S. |

#59 Posted: 2/4/2005 4:40:16 AM dg84, games aren't fixed
Love how you guys that believe games aren't fixed always refer to ASU and NW. Probably because it's the only two games in the last 10 years where players got caught. In both instances that you talk about, it took 3 or 4 games of greed before anyone caught on.
People, players, refs, learn from others mistakes and make adjustments. They are smarter than one would think.
The next thing we'll probably here from you is that there is no insider trading going on the NYSE.
Here's a few more
-Cops are the nicest people in the world and none of them are
corrupt
-Politicians use there jobs to help the community not to prosper off legal loop holes
-Lawyers want to make the world a better place not line ther pocket book |

#60 Posted: 2/4/2005 4:47:43 AM dg84: Do you honestly think normal people care if their teams wins by 1 pt or 30 pts? As a fan, It would be more exciting and satisfying to see my team wins by a bucket. So shaving a few points off the total won't hurt anybody's career |

#61 Posted: 2/4/2005 4:58:26 AM dg84,
you cant believe how large the betting industry right now? I agree with what fiestaduck and duy said. players and refs are more smarter than you think. A ref may just need one bad call to change a game, that's how easy it is. |
