The mother of San Bernardino terrorist Sayed Farook has come under additional scrutiny from federal investigators, in part due to what was discovered in her car, and has been placed on a terror watch list.
Rafia Farook lived with her son and his jihadi bride, Tashfeen Malik, in a home where thousands of rounds of ammo was stored … a home that also served as a pipe bomb factory for the terror couple.
As damning as that may be, items found in the mother’s black Lexus IS300 raised additional red flags.
The Daily Mail reported on what was found in the car:
“Apple iPhone, multi-tool, key, business card, miscellaneous indicia, bank receipt, shooting targets, hammer, vice grips, U-Haul receipt, tire receipt, notebook, garment, GoPro packaging, vacuumings, legal documents.”
Fox News’ Trace Gallagher reported Tuesday on “The Kelly File” that the targets and tools could be ties to the attack and the homemade explosive devices that were made.
“Even mundane items found inside the car, like U-Haul receipts and notebook and legal documents could ultimately help answer whether the mother could have driven the car and not noticed the tools and targets, could have lived in the house and not noticed the so-called ‘IED factory’ in the garage,'” Gallagher said.
As for the GoPro package, despite early reports that the terror couple were wearing cameras during the assualt, authorities now dispute the claim. But Gallagher said that the GoPro package is still significant because the cameras have been used by ISIS followers in other attacks.
Sayed Farook’s mother joins his father, who shares the same name as his terrorist son, on the FBI’s terror watch list.
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Sunday the FBI is looking “very, very closely” at what Rafia Farook may have known about the criminal activities of her son and his wife.
