2 hot teams, and a very surprising on in Memphis.. like I said in the ULL post, this ole miss team is on the verge on venturing in very unusual territory for the rebels and they are on a high, especially defensively and they will come out stroking no matter who the opponent is. Haven't watched or studied Memphis but if they have to rely on the pass to stay in the game, its over.. I would take this ole miss secondary over any in the country. The potential look ahead to Bama does scare me (although part of me hopes they have a little) but Hugh Freeze is a motivator and his motto has always been "win the day".
Also, I think that MSU win over LSU is going to help keep the Rebels focused to make sure they stay ahead of "TSDS". No better way to do that than to put Memphis away and solidify College Gameday's spot in the Grove for the Bama game.
And on the Ole Miss vs. Bama game.. I'm predicting Bama's run of 59 or whatever games as a favorite comes to an end Oct. 4.

Mize I see your an ole miss fan....we'll so am I. I love my rebels a and I frequently go to the grove. I only live 25min from Oxford. I hope your right but I am betting on Memphis to cover. Ole miss defense is great and I can't wait till the bama game to see where we are but I agree with oahuboy here. With bama coming in next Saturday as well as game day I just think to many distractions. Memphis has always played us close and they are much improved. I can see a back door cover or a closer game than many think. At least til the fourth quarter

Ole Miss is for real. I love watching that team play. I hope it's their turn in the SEC. But they have Bama on deck and Memphis averages 44 points a game. So when Ole Miss gets up near the spread in the second half they will pull starters and Memphis will score. I see the cover is up to 20 now. Memphis +20. A non conference game against a team you know you can beat and you have Alabama next. Sounds like a classic look ahead spot to me.

Jeremy, yes I am a big ole miss fan, have lived in oxford all my life and been going to games since you could actual tailgate in the grove by driving your truck in pulling your grill behind it. I will admit my post are probably a little biased but I don't mind saying when I don't think ole miss is in a good spot, I won't bet against them, but I won't bet on them. I think this site works best if people post on games they actually know something about rather than just throwing out numbers on teams they have never even seen play. That's the reason I keep my post to Ole Miss games and some other SEC games. I may not allways back points up with numbers but having been a huge fan of SEC football for 20 years, and have gotten pretty familiar with the ebb and flow of SEC Saturdays.
You could very well be right about the look ahead spot and I don't feel confident enough this week to argue against your point. However, I will point out that Ole Miss is also coming off a bye week, so even if they did look ahead to Bama for even a full week during practice, they still had a week to prepare for Memphis. And to Lordz (enjoy all your posts BTW) point.... we too Bo Wallace out of the game against Vandy with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and from then on the score was 7-3 Ole Miss including 2 big goal line stands from the second string defense. Yes, I realize that was Vandy (first string though), but lets remember this is Memphis.. They have played well and APPEAR to be much improved, but being improved form zero expectations isn't a whole lot.
The UCLA/ASU game tonight will go along way in determining my play on this game, if ASU stomps UCLA, which I think they will, I will be much more confident in backing ole miss.
I hate doing this cause I know i'll jinx myself but just to see if I can gain a little credibility in SEC football, here's how I think Saturday will go:
-Tennessee plays UGA close
-UK covers over Vandy to get some pay back from the behind whipping they took during Vandy's "glory days"
-Ark and TAM both score 35+
-Mizzou wins at USC (at least covers)
-Ole miss scores 40+ and Memphis doesn't score 17.

Good point mize um about the strong possibility of Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace coming out early. He got really banged up last year and he is crucial to Ole MIss success in the SEC. There is no sense is risking him getting hurt if they are up plus 14. Line is at 21 and I'm holding out for -21.5. The public is going to be on Ole Miss, lets hope the sharps don't hit Memphis when it gets to that key +21.5 number. lets get those greedy books.

Take Memphis +21 to the bank. This is an outright upset alert here! Paxton Lynch can play ball and at 6'7" has a great view of the field and a strong arm. Threw for over 2000 yards as a redshirt freshman last season and completing 66% of his passes this year with a 140.6 pass eff. rating. And Tank Jakes on defense is a beast and was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week.
