The games are being played this weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia.

These courts were picked to give the Canadian squad as much of an advantage as possible -- Spain was supposed to be sending Almagro to play, but he has a leg injury. Instead, Garcia-Lopez will be taking his place.

Games will be played as follows:

Friday [Singles]
Spain No. 1 vs. Canada No. 2
Canada No. 1 vs. Spain No. 2

Saturday [Doubles]
Canada vs. Spain

Sunday [Singles]
Spain No. 1 vs. Canada No. 1
Canada No. 2 vs. Spain No. 2

The first Country to register 3 victories wins the Tie.

Canada +167
Spain -190

The way I see it, is Raonic is going to get two singles matches on a ultra-fast surface with a pro-Canadian crowd.

That should equal two wins, especially considering that Spain is now sending over Garcia-Lopez rather than Almagro.

The other Canadian players have played on this surface before against high competition (Tsonga) and gave him a solid match.

My wager, which is 50% of my earnings from Djokovic +125 futures is being placed on....

Canada +167 vs. Spain

Best of luck

It's going to be close, pretty much a toss up. Roanic should win both of his singles. Spain should win the doubles. Granollers will likely win his match against either Pospisil or Dancevic, so it's likely gonna come down the the rubber. This could be GGL vs Dancevic, which GGL would likely be a small fav, although Frankie played well in Halibronn last week.

I think the odds are still with Canada because its about a 90% chance Milos will win his 2 singles, so if Canada can find one win between the other 3 matches they should prevail.

I agree.

I'm also putting my trust in the Canadian tennis program with this play. They are setting this up to give their team the greatest advantage possible. I might even go check out the Saturday doubles match, tickets are only around $50.

Pospisil will be playing, not Dancevic, barring any last minute injury to Vasek

Check the groupon site, cover lane. Tickets are 50% for the two expensive seating charts.

Overpaid, myself, in December for nothing. All these no-shows is very disappointing.

I think that's a bad move by Canada. Dancevic is the more talented player and was held back by injury, which he seems he is now clear of. He played great against Mathieu, losing in a 3rd set TB to 6. Also, he is 2-0 against GGL (although the last meeting was in 2007) and I think is the better choice. I wish the best for Vasek, but the bottom line is that he is a mug that finished 2012 horribly and has yet to play this year.

Pospisil is the reason why Canada made the world group,,,his play in Israel was unreal

Frank's a personal friend of mine, and sadly his better days are behind him,,,at one point he was prime to crack the top 30 and stay there but injuries have been merciless to him...Vasek,,,love him or hate him, is Canada's second best option right now,,, with Peliwo not too far away either

C'mon man, how can you say that? Dancevic was on a major upward swing before his injuries five years ago,,,he was surely going to crack the top 50,,, that's talent any way you look at it.

Outcome really depends on if Pospisil can win a match

Raonic should win both of his singles, Granollers/Lopez should win the doubles

Granny might play a singles match as well?

Trusting in Ramos and GGL is

Im sure they will play Granollers in one singles, probably the rubber. As long as the doubles doesn't go 5 and he's dead tired, he will likely go against pospisil.

He'd be a pretty big fav against pospisil IMO. Vasek still hasn't played this year which is worrying. Even if he's staying in BC practicing for this event, its not good to go into facing 2 top 70 players without practicing.

Its Granollers, Lopez, GGL and Ramos

None of the top Spanish players want to bother since they've won 3 in the past 5 years

Dancevic is playing singles

I'm not betting this one, but I smell Spain at +138 is truly the correct play now

Yes and everyone should believe everything a stockbroker says.  Isn't that a career for ex-jocks (failed) where you can get a license by correspondence and peddle junk mutual fund products.  Yea your broker buddy is a real valuable source of info. haha.  losers.

I think Dancevic will be ok -- this is basically his moment to shine in modern day Canadian tennis.

Courts are faster than anywhere else these Spainards have played.

Dancevic is healthy, and he is playing against competition that specializes on clay.

Home crowd as well.

Lines are out for tomorrows match-ups....

Raonic -7 (-1500 ML)
Ramons +7 (+1025 ML)

Dancevic +4.5 (+194 ML)
Granollers -4.5 (-217 ML)

Would love to take a small stab on Dancevic but doesn't make sense with the futures bet pending...

Canada will win, Raonic wins both his matches and Dancey beats Ramos in the rubber. Also, its possible but unlikely that Canada pulls out the doubles match.
