It is just plain awful. I used to be the biggest NBA fan since I was about 5 years old up until a few years ago, but I can barely watch a full game nowadays unless its a premiere match up of the top teams or I have significant money on a wager.
Seems like almost every other play is a bad call or a horrible non call.
I have noticed the putrid officiating over the last several years. But it seems to be becoming more and more obvious and blatant. And don't get me wrong, I am fully aware that compared to the average sports fan, we on this site have a better observation on the - for lack of a better word - sh**ty officiating because we may need the game reach a certain total or might need a team to not foul in the waning seconds of game. So I know we have a different perception and could potentially be overreacting and I also know this inconsistent and garbage officiating is nothing new.
Last night's Mavs Jazz game just reaffirmed my absolute disdain for NBA officiating.
Did anyone else notice Gobert had already passed the ball and was NOT touched during the intentional foul in the last few seconds of the game? CLEARLY they wanted him shooting FTS instead of Hayward. That was just 1 of about 4 questionable calls and non calls in the last 1.5 minutes of that game. I was reminded why this sport continues to decline in reputation.

like you i was a huge nba fan years ago. i would never miss a minute of any game if jordan or olajuwon were involved. and i would watch many other games as well. i quit completely after the officiating in game 6 of the kings/lakers series. most people should know what i am talking about.
so, it was the officiating that ruined it for me. however, the quality of play was a factor as well as i tried to get back into it and just didn't like the game anymore.
that being said, the nfl officiating is horrible. unbelievably bad. but, i only really watch football and soccer now so i don't have much to compare it to.

You touch a guy and it's a foul. The clock stops constantly and the players' personalities make it even worse. NBA players are the biggest pu$$ies in the world, nect to soccer players. I give soccer players a lot of credit though b/c soccer skills are pure talent and the divers are usually the Central and South Americans. Anyways, I think anyone in the NHL would beat the sh!t out of Russell Westbrook, but that project yo thinks he's tough, hahaha.

you know the great thing about baseball, if the ball leaves the park within the yellow poles, its a homer, no flags, no officiating, no offsides, its a score.
i was thinking the other day in every other sport a goal/run/point/TD etc can be chalked off/brought back by an overzealous ref/umpire but not the glorious home run.

It is rare, but it happens. Sometimes it is tough to tell if the ball clears the fence.

i loathe baseball sometimes, as an umpire starts defining the strike zone ok i understand this but when same pitch comes over the plate corner and its a strike one way and a ball the other i friggen start tilting...
i havent watched nba in solong i cant even rember the last entire game i sat for... ncaab march madness final four if msu or duke is in the tourney still.

i came across this last night. made me think of this thread. how do you make this call at this point in the game? nba refs are the worst at anticipated fouls.
