NEWS FLASH...
Just because someone chose to serve in the United States Marine Corps dose NOT MEAN they HAD to join... And were WITHOUT OTHER OPTIONS...
And please, please, please post some ignorant condescending BS about "that is not what I posted"... I don't know why you view Marines with disdain, but I know from what YOU posted you see military serve as an avenue for those who have no other
"OPTIONS", your choice of wording...
Setting aside what those with no other "options" have done for America in uniform... Look at what they have done in civilian life...
United States Marine Corps pilot, astronaut, and United States senator John Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth.
Fred Smith served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam went on to found Federal Express, or FedEx.
George C. Scott served in the Marines.
Tom Monaghan founded Domino's Pizza and became owner of the Detroit Tigers.
Gene Hackman served in the Marines.
A lot of people who have went on to be Singers, Athletes, Movie Stars, Business Executives and Entrepreneurs have served in the United States Marine Corps... I seriously doubt the Marine Corps was the only option they had.
Would you like me to list who a few of those guardsmen sucking on the government teet were and are after they got through sucking on the government teet?
If I considered you ignorant, simple minded or just plain stupid I could chalk your comment up to you being ignorant, simple minded or just plain stupid... But I do not. The intelligence of your past comments is why I don't get how you can think joining the Marines is someones only option when they join...
Is everyone who serves a great and wonderful person? No... Is serving in the United States armed forces the only option for some? No... Military service is not mandatory it is an option for those who chose it. But for many of us the military is our best option after high school or to break away from home and start our life.
Ever notice those who have served tend to believe the military service is not for everyone. People who have chose not to serve are often just as Proud and Patriotic Americans as those who chose to serve.
I have never met any member of the military who thought lees of someone who chose not to serve... because they chose not to serve... I have met people who I thought would have benefited from being in the military, but I respected their choice.
Sad commentary that someone would think less of another because they chose to serve...
