A biased opinion here, as I am a Giants fan, but just look at the reaction of pretty much every player on teams around the league that gave their take on it.  The overwhelming majority said it was a ridiculous thing to do.  Its a professional league, the team is clearly taking a knee game is over.  Forcing a team to "run a play" is a very idiotic idea.  The QB would simply do a "qb sneak" and hit the deck right away anyways, its pointless.  Also, for those who support Schianos motive that "his teams play hard every play til the final whistle" how about how the Bucs let the Giants score late?  It was simply an idiotic decision to by a coach who does not show respect to a league of pro players where there are unwritten rules that you just dont break.

Gee Gee... it has nothing to do with respect. He was trying to win a game. The game isn't over with a 3 pt lead and time still on the clock. It doesn't matter if the Gmen would have run a QB sneak. All that is immaterial. I just can't understand a guy getting criticized for trying to win a game. Line up and play football. Don't let us take the ball from you and score. We're not gonna quit because some believe in an "unwritten rule". We're gonna play and try to win until that game clock reads 0:00. That's not a lack of respect. That's sport. That's not accepting defeat. That's football. And personally I don't care what the others around the league say. If I'm within one score (8 pts) I'm comin. JMO...

Who is we? You play on a pro team? Give it up man. You know nothing about football.

Last time. The OFFENSE tells the DEFENSE the QB is taking a knee. If Shitiano wants to go after the ball, his DEFENSE should tell the OFFENSE they are coming. Not blindside unsuspecting players.

Again, show me one time in the NFL that the play has worked. You can't.

You guys that decide the game is over when you want it to be are funny. If I'm on defense, I do the same thing. When the clock hits zeros, then we can shake hands. Schiano is breathing life into this league. I like him so far.

And I love how coughlin cries about it. I'd tell him to coach his own team and shut the darn up.

Coughlin can yap all he wants. One of the top three coaches in the league; two SuperBowl wins.

Tampa Bay should have played harder before that play. Dirty play by a crap coach. He'll be out of the NFL in three years.

Also Shitiano was disliked by people in the NFL before he even coached in the league. Arrogant prick who took a college team that could not sink any lower and moved the program up a peg. Big deal.

Yeah... he's good at fining DB's for playing the game and trying simply to break up a pass, so I'm sure he'll fine a coach for lining his team up at the line of scrimmage to try to win a game.

Hard to win a game, WHEN YOU'VE ALREADY LOST. LET ME KNOW OF THE GAME WHEN A QB TOOK A KNEE WITH A LEAD AND LOST ON A GUTLESS PLAY...............THANKS

Vermin you are stupid and I've been watching football for 35 years. I know that the game isn't over until the clock reads zero. Maybe Goodell should watch that Southpark episode and have the players all wear bras. God forbid a team lines up and tries to cause a fumble. Someone could get hurt. Wow. This entire country has turned into a bunch of moist vaginas. Go play with your Barbie Dolls and watch your limited edition director's cut of Steel Magnolias.

Yes someone could get hurt WHEN THEY friggin tell the other team what they are doing. God you are a clueless person.

He's an idiot.  He'll be "chopping wood" right out of the back door of the NFL soon enough.  He'll be back in New Jersey running pee-wee league football camps in no time.

Overrated fake tough guy.  If he wanted his team to play tough maybe they shouldn't have given up 25 pts in the 4th quarter to the Giants.  When it counted there was no tough team there.  Just a chicken sh$t one at the end.

I was just capping the Bolts/Bucs game, looked at the stats, and was reminded of this thread from a few weeks ago.

Last year the Bucs were 4-12 SU and 4-12 ATS.

This year so far under Schiano, Bucs are 4-4 SU and 6-2 ATS.   It's still early, but right now it looks like he's doing a good job of turning that team around.

Bucs have scored 144 pts in the last 4 weeks, avg 36 pts/game.   They've had a relatively soft schedule, but that's still not bad.    Looks like they're moving in the right direction.

You're right, a lot of progress. At the time I wrote that statement, they were both terrible. Now, OC looks like a genius and the line looks like a reincarnation of the " Hogs." The truth is probably somewhere in the middle between my statement and your statement. I also overlooked that the O was learning a new system.I formed my opinion right after they played Dallas and  I think the biggest mistake I made was not giving the Boys D enough credit. Really good unit. If we were playing Chess, I would say you definitely put me in " check."

well done

BK I wasn't trying to score off of you.   At the time you wrote that post, I probably would've agreed with you.    I was just pointing out that, now that we have more information, we can better evaluate this guy.   (It's still too early to come to any definite conclusions, though)

He's made a great impression, and I think he could be around for a long time as an nfl coach.

Vermin... to answer your question I am 44. I'm also 6'3", 225, and in shape. And my wife isn't fat. It must be difficult being you. So ready to lash out at someone that jokes with you about your pathetic grammar. I didn't know know it would strike a chord like that. And when I told you I was merely joking and meant no harm, you were still upset enough to come at me more. This leads me to believe that you're a minute man, or you have a very small penis. Whatever the case may be, you have some type of issue that has been a thorn in your side your entire life. If you don't know what it is, find it and resolve it. The odds are though, you know what it is.

This thread does need to die though. I apologize to my Covers friends that this insecure little girl has diluted the thread with nonsense. And Vermin, if you respond I won't see it. I simply have more important things to do.
