I'm not trying to be Mr. Negative here. I loved last year's Bowl season. That was a money making machine. This year? Total trash. 75% of these games involves putting your money on a team with major flaws. Just an all around horrible year of college football. Quite frankly, everyone but Bama sucks. And no, I'm not a Bama fan. But just give them the trophy.
Hawaii is in a bowl game this year. South Alabama is in a bowl game this year. Eastern Michigan is in a bowl game. Miami of Ohio? Boston College? These teams routinely lose by 40+ to teams in the power 5 conferences. I mean it's a joke.
How about Kentucky and Georgia Tech on New Year's Eve? LOL. Yeah Kentucky is somewhat improved but my local high school team plays better defense than them. That team is garbage. And Georgia Tech somehow gets a spotlight game? Maybe they just assumed everyone is gonna get trashed that night and won't even watch any football. Horrible game to put on.
South Carolina in a bowl game? I mean really? That offense is in a bowl game? Seriously, last year you didn't have any of these garbage teams. You had a few crap teams from smaller conferences like La Lafayette or whatever in like the first slate of 10 games and that was it.
Perfect game to sum up how much I hate this Bowl season. Stanford vs NC. Anyone who watches NC play knows they have no run defense at all. Stanford would be a no brainer bet in this spot if they had anyone other than the complete buffoon they have at QB. I mean just an average QB. But no you have to put your money on this clown who averages about 60 yards passing a game because he is incapable of completing a pass beyond 5 yards.
Or how about Arkansas Virginia Tech? On a normal year where Arkansas is semi competent on defense it's easy to take Arkansas in this game. But of course this year their defense is swiss cheese. Just run it up the middle 90% of your plays and they can't stop it.
Baylor Boise? I mean how the hell do you bet this game? You have to pick one of two options. A) A team that loses by 40 to TCU, 20 at home to K State, 20 TT, but has the potential to show up and plays well like they did last year when they were 3 point dogs vs NC and beat them by a hundred. Or B) A Boise team that failed to win by 20+ at home vs San Jose St, UNLV, wins by only 5 at home vs Colorado St . . . bottom of the barrel D 1 teams you should be drilling by 30 if you're any good easily. You have to pick between one of these two trash teams. I'd rather hang myself with dental floss than try to bet this one. But most of the games are like this.
Not saying there aren't any good bets out there on this card. I like Houston a lot vs SD State for example. But it's tough and this was definitely a down year in CF. I say you basically got 10 decent games out of 40 to watch. With that being said, being the degenerate I am I'll probably still watch a decent portion because maybe some of these crap teams will at least play close games. The games up till Christmas Day though are honestly the worst batch I have ever seen. After that, you got a few decent games on the 28th, one on the 29th, a couple on the 30th, and 3-4 between the 31st and the 2nd.
On one more note, I think they did a bad job matching up these teams. Like you got Temple vs WF and Boise vs Baylor, why not do Temple vs Boise and Baylor vs WF. Put both crap teams in one game instead of putting one bad team across both games. Total stupidity. They need to get rid of the "rules" when they match up teams like specific place in this conference vs this place in that conference. What purpose does that serve?
