The Commissioner of the Big 12 doesn't want to commit to Baylor, even though their own conference rules (!) state that in the event of a tie, the team that goes to a bowl is the one that beat the other in a head to head matchup. But he sees that TCU was ranked THREE SPOTS ahead of Baylor going into this week, so he reasonably assumes that TCU might hold on to that spot. How ridiculous might he look to pundits and fans, if he chooses Baylor, but TCU gets in the Playoff??? Then everybody will rip the conference and the committee for not having the conference champ in the title chase. If he chooses TCU, and then the committee chooses Ohio St and FSU over TCU, then the conference coaches will blast him for not choosing Baylor.
This stuff is awesome. I love college football. And by the way, everyone asked for this when they got rid of computers which automatically incorporate schedule strength and other ancillary ratings and decided to go with that "eye test" stuff and "ranking by committee" stuff. It all boils down to what we THINK, instead of what we KNOW. So let's have fun ripping them no matter what they decide lol.
