Found out a little while ago that A'Shawn Robinson has a MCL sprain. It is not official yet as Saban won't comment until Tomorrow's press conference. That makes the entire First team D-Line on the sideline (2 suspended and 1 injured). Not sure if any will make it back in time for West Virginia. Wanted to let everyone know what I have heard and read so you can make a better decision if you plan to bet the game.

This is correct, Bama's D-Line had none of their projected starters for practice today.
Honestly, Robinson is the one that most worries me about missing time. He is an absolute monster and had been at DT between Allen and Tomlinson since the suspensions.
(So) Jonathan Allen had a stellar spring and will be one of the D ends most likely.
The other D end spot may go to (So) Dalvin Tomlinson, who Saban has had some high praises for lately.
"If everybody on our team was like Dalvin, we wouldn't have many problems, I can tell you that. You're talking about a character guy there."

The injury isn't serious. He should be good in a week to 10 days. Robinson has played enough for the coaching staff to know what they have, so getting reps in crap games should not be a priority. The priority should be take make certain he is 100% for Florida in week 4.
Compared to other units, the defensive line has been somewhat of a weakness for Alabama during the Saban era. That has changed dramatically with the recruitment of three 5* defensive linemen (A'Shawn Robinson, Jonathan Allen and Da'Shawn Hand) the past two recruiting cycles. These are the type of defensive linemen Alabama was consistently missing out in years past.
The point is that this is one of the deeper spots on Alabama's roster, so an injury two shouldn't be devastating.

Yeah saw where the injury isn't to bad. I'm glad for him that it wasn't worse. I agree with you that the D-Line has been somewhat of a weak point under Saban. What I mean is there hasn't really been much of a pass rush. I think you are right stating they have made changes and recruited to fix this the last few classes. Friday the other 2 players have been allowed back at practice so maybe they can work there way out of the dog house. Under Saban that is hard to do but he will give them a chance to prove themselves.

This is a shitty team but a shitty team that could put up 20 points on a contender if its not a road game. Im not playing WVU but I think Bama needs to score too many points to cover. Might as well play the over.

It had absolutely nothing to do with that. Quite frankly, I probably never even read the insults so I have no clue what was said, or who said it.
I will post my picks for week one later tonight, and I'll try to post each subsequent week. I'm am very busy with work, so I'm not sure I'll be able to every week.

The lack of pass rush is most attributable to the 3-4 scheme. In a 3-4, the defensive line are suppose to eat up blockers so the linebackers can roam free. Because of this, Alabama has had a hard time recruiting elite pass rushers. Elite pass rushers what to pin their ears back and go after the QB, they don't want to be space eaters.
To defend the hurry-up, no-huddle offense, Saban has recognized the need to recruit quicker more athletic defensive linemen. And in the last two recruiting cycles, Alabama has successfully recruited some elite edge rushers. These are the type of guys that heretofore were committing to the LSU's of the world in the past.
A'Shawn Robinson is the anchor of the newly revamped defensive line, and losing him would certainly be a big blow. As it stands right now, it looks like his knee is doing well. He just needs to work his way into playing shape.
Of course, as I said above, Robinson's services are not really critical in the first three games of the season (West Virginia, Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss). His services really will be critical in weeks 4 through 12.

Alabama will have the best DL in the SEC iyam... Pettway is the best of the bunch (per team sources) and will be a household name by mid season.. The Tide has 8 guys that can play at a high level on the DL.. Good enough to move Robinson to NG in regular... Rashaan Evans is a name you will here a lot.. He will be a speed rusher off the edge on 3rd downs and has seriously impressed the staff and players in his ability to beat the OT on the reg... Saban finally has the 2 types of defenses he wants.. Big, thick, and space eaters on 1st & 2nd down.. And quick, fast, and agile on 3rd downs and Nickel / Dime... Also the corners have been REALLY good this fall and better coverage means that extra second holding the ball...
