Not sure about Arkansas. They lose a lot of offense and they have to play Alabama and LSU. Arkansas @ home is a great bet but I don't think Arkansas has the talent or the depth to compete with them. I would really like USC if they had a little bit more depth and if they didn't have to play Oregon twice ( once during reg season and most likely in the pac 12 championship ). There's a good reason that USC is 10-1 I guess. Oregon returns a whole bunch of players on defense, they lose James but D'anthony Thomas sure be even better after his breakout freshman year. Darron Thomas also returns for his senior year.
Georgia should be able to win east pretty handily, they return so many starters on defense it's hardly funny. Both all conference Rambo and Jones returns into an already stacked defense. Aaron Murray is back also, crucial loses include TE Orson Charles; whose played alongside Murray since high school. Personally I think it's going to be LSU vs USC. Unless there's a big upset or if a relatively young tide defense can go into baton rouge at night and win ( unlikely), I think LSU should be able to run the table. Too much experience and depth. Plus LSU' schedule is far easy than last year's. Too bad their odds are quite low. I enjoyed your write-ups Du4l, as always.

Great post but i believe you're overvaluing how good denard robinson is. He's pretty bad and i would never put michigan in my top ten because of him. Personally i love usc to win it all next year, they have talent on both sides of the ball unlike most non sec teams, and i think theyll dispose of oregon twice.

I don't think Michigan or Wisconsin will finish in the top ten. Michigan will probably lose the opener to 'Bama. They simply don't have the horses up front imo. Although, 'Bama has lost some key players..
They have brutal road games @ ND (which they have beat ND 3 straight years in the last seconds of the game, so ND will be ready for that game) @ Nebraska and @ Ohio State (both who will have revenge on their minds). Plus, add in their in-state rival MSU, which you can never chalk up as a win. Michigan returns most of their team, and although I think they will have a better team, they will have a worst record next year due to their schedule.
One of the main reasons for Wisconsin's success this year is b/c they won the transfer sweepstakes on Wilson. Yes, Ball is coming back, but they have lost their entire O-line, best WR and have no QB on the roster who has any experience. Wisconsin was barely in the top 10 this year, and this year's team was pretty solid. I don't see how replacing all that experience, they remain in the top 10.

40 - 1 is value. But to answer your question.... NO. I think this team will be one of the best offensive teams in the country, but until they recruit some better talent on defense they dont have a shot.
As I stated in other threads I do think the game is changing in whereas the offense is leading over the defense.. but if your defense is as bad as Clemson was... you cant be elite. You have to stop somebody at some point. If Clemson had a decent defense this past season they would easily won 12 games.... prolly went something like 13-1 or 12-2.... but even with that pitiful defense they still won 10 games. There schedule was tough too... Auburn, FSU and V.T to start the year was a tough task and all of them were ranked.... some how they won all those games. But as the year rolled on the defense just fell completely apart..

what about an all sec national title in 2013 just like this year? lsu vs alabama, or lsu vs arky, or bama vs arky. cant put the east in cause they get beat.
they should just make the sec title game the national title game, save us a whole bowl season, we dont need a bcs title game, when every year the best teams in the sec, just make the sec title game the bcs title. but then all those goofs that hate on the sec will cry

I love how everybody just assumes Meyer is going to "destroy" the Big Ten. Urban Meyer is a good coach, no doubt, but let's be honest here; Meyer is no different than any other coach. While at Florida, he did win 2 national championships, which is incredible, that said, he also had some mediocre seasons as well (just as any coach does). The first year coming after winning the first National Championship, when he had to re-tool his team with a sophomore in Tim Tebow. Michigan beat that team in the bowl game and Florida had 4 losses. The second time he had to re-tool his program (after he went 13-1) his team went 8-5 (And let's not forget the two seasons he went 13-1, he had one of the best QB's in football).
Meyer is good, but just as any coach, you have to re-load with talent after a good senior/junior class leaves. Meyer will recruit well at Ohio State, but just as any program, he will have his down years. Living in the hear of Buckeye Country, people just think this guy is going to walk in and win the Big Ten every year.. and think he will win a minimum of 3 NC rings. Possible? I guess. Reality? Imo, no. Let's not forget, it was Greg Mattison who was on his staff at Florida who did A LOT of recruiting for Urban. Urban went as far to say that Mattison is one of the best recruiters in the Nation (now at Michigan)..
Imo, Meyer quit on the program @ Florida. When the pressure got hot, he bolted b/c of "health" reasons. Yet, he takes a more pressure packed job at OSU? -laughable...
Plain & Simple, he saw the writing on the wall @ Florida. He went 8-5 his last season there and realized all the 4 & 5 star recruits weren't going to pan out.. and instead of staying and seeing it through, he gave up and left. Not to mention he had over 30 players arrested while at Florida.
Urban Meyer is no "God". He is a good coach, just like many in the business...

i'd reply to a post, but everyone here is apparently from the south or east and favoring the SEC.
Oregon lost to Ohio State on a Blount fumble, he kicked out of the end zone, a real fluke play. If he scores there, he likely turns the game around, Oregon takes the lead and wins the 2010 Rose Bowl. If any of you actually watched the game or were at the game like I was you would know that play changed the outcome.
The Oregon/Auburn game was a lot closer than you SEC biased people believe. I put the farm on Auburn ML, as an Oregon student, thinking we'd get blown out. Nick Fairley and Cam Newton scared the hell out of me, and I got lucky. If Cliff Harris picks off that Newton ball... which he did, but the refs mistakingly called it by the NFL rule and not the NCAA rule, Auburn kept the ball and he threw a 40+ yard touchdown on the next play. Sure, it saved my senior year tuition but it was a big momentum changer in a still close game. LaMichael's safety and the tackle on Tuinei when he thought he could coast to a touchdown to take the lead, mental errors, not physical errors lead to an Auburn title.
The LSU game. DeAnthony's 2 fumbles and Barner's fumbles were huge momentum changers for the Tigers. DeAnthony may be the Ducks best player in 2012, and if any of you disagree, re watch the 2012 Rose Bowl. He drops a punt because it was one of his first play on the field as a true freshman. It's understandable. But if he plays like he did in the Rose Bowl in that game... more importantly, if LSU plays how they did in the national title game in that game, Oregon walks to a victory.
Also, I'd like to see the SEC make a trip out west to Autzen. That game against LSU was basically a road game. A short drive for the tigers or a spendy vacation for duck fans.
By saying this, I'm no homer either. I graduated from Oregon in June, and don't think that offense is unstoppable. LSU and Auburn made key stops against the spread that helped them win. USC as well, USC may very well be the best team in the country next year. And whoever said that if Oregon splits with them the conference is terrible? Look for Oregon to split with USC next year and there to be the biggest debate in BCS 2013. When Oregon, USC, Bama, LSU and maybe even Arky all have 1 loss if the round robin works out that way.
Alabama, however, has many key losses. They'll have to go through hell next year playing Michigan in Cowboys Stadium, which they'll probably win. But go to Arky, go to LSU and play a tough Texas A&M offense at home. I only call it tough because of all the defense Bama loss. I'm sure Saban will have the defense ready to shut down A&M by then.
LSU has a few mediocre games on their schedule, going to A&M, Florida and Arky but it's all late and I'm sure they'll be ready. If they win at Arky it could be another undefeated season for the Tigers.
Arky, it's just hilarious some of the SEC non conference schedules play out. Jacksonville State and ULM ... great way to start the season 2-0. Oregon has cake ones this year but look at the past with Houston's big offense, Fresno State goes to bowl games more often then those powderpuffs, The Citadel and the rest of the weak SEC non conference schedules- Georgia does play a tough schedule most of the time. But Arky won't run the table. Their November schedule is extremely tough going to SC, Miss St, playing LSU at home and then the SEC championship game. Plus the Bama game thrown in there earlier.
If any SEC team does run the table, I expect it to be LSU or Georgia. But karma will reign on Georgia because they backed out of a home and home with my Oregon Ducks, because they don't want to lose the chance to go undefeated by not playing any non conference games outside of the SEC area and still getting to play 7-8 games at home. The whole SEC is notorious for that. Florida hasn't played a non conference away game outside the state of Florida in like 40 years.
Last year Florida beat Furman, UAB and Fla Atlantic at home. Come on, really?
With those weak offenses, I'd like to see any of the SEC teams come to Autzen and leave with a win. They're no USC.

Oh and to answer the original question, in sportsbetting value is a tricky word. Arkansas may have value, but is it still a waste of money?
My book doesn't have the odds out yet, but Sportsbook has
Arky 18-1, probably good odds if you hedge the LSU game.
Bama 5-1, always good but can they repeat with losing that defense and Richardson? probably not, I'd stay away at 5-1
Georgia 12-1 Like this. I haven't researched the Bulldog returners. But if they keep a lot of the starters they can sneak by South Carolina and all that's in their way of heading to Miami is the SEC Championship game. Unload your free play on LSU or Arky there and win either way.
LSU 3.85-1. Sure, Miles is a terrible coach but he has top 5 talent every year. Don't know how a guy with that much talent has only won one national title... almost laughable. He's due for another one by now. I'd still stay away though, he'll find some way to screw up another season that's handed to him.
Oklahoma 12-1. With Ok State getting worse and none of the Big 12 improving, they're odds to win the conference. An undefeated season would land them in Miami, might be a team no one talks about until they're 6-0.
Oregon 12-1. Okay, now I still don't want to sound like a homer but I kind of like this. Everyone should agree Oregon is undefeated going into the bye week. The first tough game is at ASU, but with a new coach and system, shouldn't be a problem. With a bye week, a win at ASU, an easy win at home against Colorado, that's basically three weeks to prepare for USC in the coliseum. USC has to go to Arizona the week before the play Oregon. With Rich Rodriguez bringing the spread to Arizona I hate this. USC will get pretty much a preview of Oregon by playing their offense on a lower level the week before. If usc goes win/win in those two weeks they may be the #1 team in the nation. However, if Oregon wins every game except the USC game they're prolly in the top 5-6 going into the Pac 12 title game. If there are no unbeatens and USC wins the 2nd game against USC in a more convincing fashion than the loss earlier in the year, do they go to the natty? Depends on a whole bunch of SEC and Oklahoma variables, I understand. 12-1 is a little too low for me, but give me 18-1 and I'm all over it.
