Pitching... there are so many parameters to look at.
1. I look the era and whip, walks and strikeouts. HR hit. season vs last 3, h/away, day/night, era against said team, said batter, obs, gb/flyball, pitch count. try to look at it all to see if there is any great difference, I look at the bullpen too. the era of available pen. there is so much in pitching to consider. Can you over cap a games pitching. What criteria do you look at to determine a play or not?
Batting...again so many parameters.
I look at avg, obp, batter vs said pitcher, H/R, walks, strikeouts, current streak.
Trends
They say the trend is your friend, but contrary made to be broken. plus they are so conflicting at times they can be more confusing than not. Even if they're one sided.
Umpires
Pretty much same as trends, sometimes conflicting, sometimes 1 sided.
Situations
Are they the home team that just returned from a road trip. Are they the visiting team that just swept their arch rival. Did they just play a big divisional game, the last game of the series and play the next day. Did they get swept the last series, playing that same team again. Did they finish a series on the West coast and playing on the East coast the next day, or vice versa. So many situations. which ones matter and which ones do you say no problem?
Websites...what sites do you look at to help determine a play?
Baseball Reference, Rotoworld for Injuries, Dunkel, Sabremetric site
If you could lend some input to me and maybe some other investors,(that are to proud to admit they don't know everything), to help be better cappers it would greatly be appreciated.
What do you got? Thanks!
