They are not paid to bunt. And there is no way they will do it in the playoffs, unless absolutely necessary.
You dont have to bunt...
I played baseball all my life, D 1 in college and still in leagues to this day...instead of taking the outside pitch for a strike which they do EVERYTIME....slap it to the left side, and after doing it two or three times, you wont be hitting into 3 fielders on the right side anymore

No offense but if you make it sound so easy, why aren't you making 15 mill a year? Lol

I was a left-handed pitcher (also played center field), drafted twice but Tommy John twice as well...
You dont need to make $15 million a year to understand that when there are 3 players between 1st base and 2nd base, and the other infielder is at SS...hit an outside pitch to the left side a few times and then they will stop playing the shift on you
How many line-drives did the players who had shifts on them hit into tonight? I counted 5...
Conforto was up with a man on 3rd base and 2 outs, Baez was practically standing on 2nd base....if he put a bunt down he could have rolled to 1st base and got an RBI making it 3-2...he stuck out but got lucky anyways....
Point is, teams are giving these guys free base hits, maybe doubles and they refuse to take them

i thought the same thing for a while ... but the reason is simple
MLB for the most part is played unfundamentally..the vast majority of players swing for the fences..they don't give a garbage about singles..even in these playoffs, i watch and ask myself wtf aren't these idiots trying to play team ball and do what it takes to get on base and move runners over instead of being the hero.
i think a lot of players would also rather swing at ball 4 with the hope of going yard than having to take their base..thats baseball
