"There are more ways to handicap than there are handicappers" said Bob McCune in one of his books.
Trends used to be my cup of tea in the early days, Key. (emotional win letdown, revenge, 1st game home after long rd trip, ect.)
Only problem was these situations didn't come up very often.
I don't know about anyone else, but I use the old fashion power rating methods (after gettin killed by "experimenting") LOL.
Think I see a little Stanford Wong in your approach, my friend.
Have allota respect for the "seat-of-the-pants" capper (as Huey Mahl used to call them).
Guys who have been doin it for so long (and have paid their dues) that they just get a feel without any extravagant statistical analysis. These are the artists of cappin as opposed to the scientists. I'd last about 10 minuets in that realm.
Today's handicapping books seem geared for the young, computer programmer type. Calibrating one's program to make a more accurate line than the oddsmaker.
That's all Greek to me.
Nice talkin to ya, Key. GL in your NBA venture !
