triple reverse con psychology worked for us in houston big time last night. the team that won twice in a row at home and did not cover finally covered by winning away. is that the common denominator we are looking for? no. actually, it may be part of that denominator but not only.
the cavs won twice away and covered. will they cover for the third time in a row?
well, here we need more mature approach than just "give me a pick man - i dont give a flying .... what your philosophy is....what about the totals. first half.....etc etc....
if the quick fix is what you looking for - you're not gonna have the patience to read all this thru - so you better leave the thread now and come back for the pick if and when i post it. because tonight is the rangers night....
ok, now those that have enough patience and will to participate in this brainstorming: the hawks are +17 ats while the cavs are -2 including the two wins in atlanta. why is that? because atlanta had a better record. well, a little but not entirely.
the reason is that the cavs with lbj and all the supporting cast were expected to cover and the public as most of the times supporting that notion - therefore the crooks with porsches did not cover.
now about the hawks. why did they cover so much? because most of the times the public was on opposition the ats was so high. and that is why they made an effort to cover.
now, since nba fired the previous screenwriter/scriptwriter and hired the new one - this one goes deep reverse engineering when writing nba scripts for the playoffs. and i think last night we figured the way that guys brain works. long moves. pro con moves.
so, what is he planning for us tonight? i believe tonight will go down the wire till the tip off and if - like last night - the support of the cavs to cover and win will be so high as it is now - and therefore unbalancable - we will see at least the hawks covering if not winning the game entirely.
how? do not worry - lbj has been preparing us for his "imminent" injury already for sometime. so if limps off sometimes at the third quarter - please do not worry about his health. he'll be back for the game 4.
if the support (and i mean that i havent seen the rlm these playoffs meaning majority bets mean majority money) stays for the cavs as it is now - i suggest or to stay out or pound the hawks.

I am going with Cavs -9 if I pick the points spread. Cavs are the better team and at home they are very good. I think the Hawks will be broken mentally if Cavs go up early.
Without Korver, Cavs defense will lock in more on Teague/Dennis. Now Horford is banged up, I don't expect Cavs to let down now that they know GSW could sweep. Cavs will keep up with GSW and win by DD.
what youre saying and seeing is said and seen by thousands and the vast majority of the bettors. does not that worry you a bit? dont; you feel you are being pawned by?

Phix...as soon as charles Barkley said both series might end up in sweeps last night I knew 1 or 2 of these games are going to be won by the hawks or rockets. Just gotta find the right one. The betting % on this particular game is lopsided like a fat kid and his little brother on a teeter tooter.
I started a thread about Korver and espn you might dig.

Hawks are fundamentally flawed for playoff basketball. They are undersized and rely too much on mid range to arc shooting. Cavs will continue to dominate boards and therefore the game. Bud is getting outcoached by Lebron. Hawks very much remind me of early 2000's Phoenix Suns. Run and gun shooters that wowed during the reg season but were always outmatched in the slower half court playoff style. You can't just change overnight. The gameplan Bud has drawn up isn't working (they haven't led since 1st qtr game 1 even though both teams are shooting roughly the same FG percentage) and I find it implausible he suddenly comes up with something that does. Without Korver on the floor their spacing diminishes and Cavs will find it easier to play their lock down D. The Hawks can play with as much heart as they want to but it won't change the fact that their style of play won't work unless they shoot 50%. Since that isn't likely to happen (especially on the road) I will side with Cavs.

The only thing people talk about is Atlanta, all their problems, injuries etc. Why don't we take a look at the Cavs?
Obviously, the Cavs lead this serie 2-0 after winning both games in Atlanta. How did they win them? In a quite convincing way, one could say that they completely dominated ATL. Now, the serie goes to Cleveland, Korver is out, Horford is banged up...Cleveland already leads 2-0 and is about to take the series...Do you really think Cleveland is as focused as they were in Game 1 and 2? I would argue that Cleveland won't come out with the same kind of intensity. They feel safe knowing that they own ATL...
On the other hand, ATL will come out strong. With all their injuries, other players (Bazemore, Scott, Mack etc.) will step up and bring the maximum of intensity. Remember the game in Washington when ATL was down 20+, Bud played his whole bench and they only lost the game by a ridiculous PP game winner.
I think ATL (especially their second unit) will give Cleveland a fight today. If they manage to take a 10+ lead at half, they have a good chance of winning SU. Just my 2 cents and I suck in these playoffs

I look at the golden state games in the playoffs. Many times they have been up big in the fourth but all of the sudden you see weird shots, dumb passes and no sets. It's like a switch goes off....with that, they've won those games but not covered. Dont tell me its defense either anyone. If good defense is standing on a guy, watching him dribble and iso for 15 seconds only to heave a 23 footer up, ok then, thats you. To me, it's all calculated for cover purposes. It's a bit odd too to see such a drastic change in pace and execution from such a great team. I see the cavs like this too. In game 2, I saw lebron down the stretch shooting threes, dribbling a lot and driving into the hole with three guys on him. Out of control. This all occured knowing that he and the cavs had the game in hand. It happened in game 2 with the Rockets as well. I bring all of this up because I feel tonite, the obvious is that cavs blow them out in Cleveland. Irving plays and they just dominate. Well, the obvious last game was for the hawks to play their best game, especially without Irving in. Well, it was a beatdown. I have learned in basketball this playoffs that the obvious bet isn't obvious. Last nite not many expected a 30 plus point win yet it was embarrassing. Everyone thought it would at least be close, why? The script that played in front of our eyes in the last 2 minutes. Tonite if I had to pick, I'd either bet the under or I'd bet the hawks cover. The average Joe bettor would see what happened last game, see that the cavs are up 2-0, and just hit the submit button on the cavs. They see korver out and say no way they win even though korver hasnt been consistent. They forget about the defense and the team ball atlanta CAN play.Too easy for the king tonite, right?. I think golden state wins in 5 as i think the cavs do as well. Tonite i think with the situation, hawks could win...I think the hawks will play tough d making it a good game. I could be wrong though!

I think schematically they need to LeBron get his and shut down the shooters. If they do that and start hitting shots they will cover the spread fairly easily imo. My biggest concern is whether they can keep the Cavs off the glass.

The Cavs might try to sweep the Hawks so that they can rest Irving. Although it looks like Warriors will win in 5 or less... But knowing with the healthy players they have, they can win; I can see this scenario.

There's no doubt they would like to finish the Hawks as soon as possible and gets some extra rest for Kyrie. But I don't think it is such a big factor in their heads. The Cavs feel comfortable, they know they are the better team, they have a 2-0 lead, they will play the next two games at home, Hawks have several injured/banged up players...I think all this leads to a lack of intensity and focus today. But what do I know...Hawks could completely quit today and lose by 20 points. Who knows...

both conference finals simply can't go down in 4 games. that will be pure performance on behalf of nba brass towards the networks. nba needs drama and there is no drama in two sweeps. and besides - vegas dosn't sit and waiting to be stripped of his assets. yesterday we saw the great example of what is misperception and the true perception. today we are whole day witnessing the process of the hawks being shredded slowly and reduced to bunch of amateur players without pop and mom stuck in the foreign fields merely trying to survive and come home without bodily harm. that is misperception.
true perception is that those are professional players each waiting for its moment under the sun to improve next years contracts and today you will see the hawks team most probably reducing the cavs thye way the cavs reduced them. there is no other way. more i hear the stories how the hawks are injured and done - more i get convinced they are the play.

Indeed, that is why they call it gambling. My only worry, as I outlined, is that they get killed on the glass again. Hawks are a very very soft team and it is highly concerning. They got killed last game there but only lost by 9, although at home. Have the Cavs been dominant at home? Warriors seem to play looser away, I wonder if same is true for the Cavs.

Im not so sure, the public is split on this game. Yesterdays game, I had the Warriors, I could smell the trap by vegas. 3/4 of money on Rockets and line was stuck as practically a pick 'em. This game has a totally different feel. If the public was squarely on one side I would say you have a point.

1. Schematically I think they should let LeBron get his (idk if they'll do this or not)
2. Will the Hawks even the rebounding advantage
number 2 worries me a whole lot if I side with the Hawks. Horford is hurt, and what players do they have to rectify this issue, Muscala is undersized and Antic plays small. They'll probably get killed on the glass again tbh.
