#1 Posted: 11/15/2011 11:27:29 PM Is this forum full of nothing but hip hop and classic rock fans?
Where are all the heavy music fans?
Shows I've seen in 2011 so far:
Opeth Chimaira Slayer Hatebreed (again on Nov 25th w/All That Remains) The Black Dahlia Murder All Shall Perish Between The Buried and Me (Dec 6th) Mastodon A Perfect Circle (I know, not heavy, but I'm a big MJK fan) Pretty Lights (Also very far from what I'm into but drugs can do crazy things to a person)
Also attended this past summers All Good Festival and I haven't missed a Mayhem Fest since its birth.
I'm sure i'm forgetting a few as well...
Will someone talk to me about heavy music? I've been trying to check out stuff that is alot less main stream lately. Volumes, Born of Osiris, Tesseract, Impending Doom, etc... Always open to new suggestions.

#2 Posted: 11/16/2011 3:40:26 PM im not into death metal anymore because i just can't continue to ignore the satanic stuff, i would really like to be able to and for years i was
Job for a Cowboy- The Divine Falsehood(the song is Revelations 14 in the Bible)
Dimmu Borgir- Boadskapeters Ring 2005. you have to use headphones the guitar/backgrounds will put you in a trance
Cradle of Filth- Her ghost in the Fog
Graveworm did a cover of "fear of the dark", epic
everyone out there has covered "enjoy the silence" and "Mad World" Evergreen Terrence did them both well, they also have a cover of The Offspring "the kids aren't alright" very very very good
I still enjoy some Norma Jean every now and then- blue prints for future homes is one of my favs |

#3 Posted: 11/16/2011 9:13:35 PM I've been a metal fan since Twisted Sister blew up on MTV/Muchmusic in the mid 80's, that may not be considered metal now but it was the heaviest thing I heard at that time being 10 years old or so, got into Crue,Van Halen and all that garbage then I saw the Aces High video from Iron Maiden and that was that, headbanger for life.
Rarely go to shows anymore but back in the day I went to as many as I could. Metallica on the Justice tour and most of their 90's gigs.Saw Slayer in 1990 at a small arena with Testament opening who got garbage thrown at them their entire set. Metal gigs back then were friggin violent, the pits now are darn all compared to back then.
Some older garbage to check out on youtube
Sepultura- Roots and Chaos AD era when both Cavelaras were in the band. Some of the newer garbage is good also.
Anthrax Sound of white noise- first John Bush album, one their best and most underated albums.
Fear Factory Soul of new machine- Came out in 1992, killer, have all their 90's discs I think, were one of the 1st to put out remix albums.
Obituary The end complete- Wasn't a huge death metal fan but this disc is a masterpiece.
Ministry- Psalm69 was actually pretty big but they changed there sound after and went more power metal. Filth Pig and Dark Side of the Spoon are underrated.
Queensyrche The Warning- While they looked like a typical 80's hair metal band, they were actually one of the most progressive bands during that era. Check out the track "N M 156" and keep in mind that was 1984, killer.

He's cool and all but he's no Tom Araya. |

#19 Posted: 12/7/2011 9:20:30 PM Overkill? I haven't listened to them in litterly 20 years, all the seattle and alternative stuff that came out put alot of those thrash bands out of the game.
If ya had Overkill tapes you likely listined to this as well http://youtu.be/apD_nDwOSxQ |

#21 Posted: 12/13/2011 1:31:58 PM Hail to all the Metalheads! My very first show was Vio-Lence , Voi Vod & Testament back in 87 or 88. Voi Vod cancelled because they found out piggy had cancer. Vio-Lence was insane thrash & blew away Testament in my bleeding eyes & ears. This show was at sundance which was in Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y. It felt like I saw a milion bands there, cool club, Blind Illusion(before they became Primus) Morbid Angel, Bio-Hazard, Mucky Pup, Life Of Agony, Murphys Law, D.R.I., Leeway, Exodus, Obituary, Sadus, Sepultura, Red Hot Chili Peppers, M.O.D., GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation. |
