On the phone, he now says he got rid of the phone because his atty told him that legally they could not make him provide it and the nfl did not warn him that if he destroyed the phone he could face discipline. What the f kind of defense is that. Doesn't sound like an innocent person. Also, a lawyer is always going to tell u to shut up immediately and not to provide anything that is not read
Brady is also apparently claiming that he is completely innocent and had no involvement. If that is the case, then how is able to now affirmatively claim the patriots did nothing wrong. Also, why did the Patriots then suspend the other employees involved.
Yall are forgetting this is not a criminal proceeding where there is a greater std of proof and certain protections afforded the accused. Rather, this is simply a private employer charged w investigating an incident that potentially could affect the integrity of the game. If Brady was concerned about getting to the truth he should have asked the nfl whether he could destroy the phone. Under these circumstances, most private employers would have disciplined the employee for destroying potentially relevant evidence.
And I don't get this applause for Kraft or the indication that his character is beyond reproach. He makes this sanctimonious statement about how he's not going to contest the ruling in the best interest of the game. But now that he doesn't like the ruling he wants he starts throwing torpedoes at the league. Clearly not in the interest of NFL.
If you only heard the one line it doesn't sound like an emphatic defense. But he said a lot more than that when asked "Are you a cheater." Exact quote is "I
don't believe so," Brady said. "I've always played within the rules and
I would never do anything to break the rules. I believe in fair play.
... Every team is trying to do the best they can to win every game." He also said "I was as surprised as anyone when I heard Monday morning what happened." When asked And have you ever knowingly played below the legal PSI limits? "No." And also "I didn't alter the ball in any way."
The above is only some of the first interview, he said more. So not enough defense?
As for the phone, they had already told the league he would not be turning over his phone, and the league made no complaint or threats about that. So what happen to the phone after that makes no difference, other than a b.s. excuse for Goodell.
Brady is saying Pats did nothing wrong because that's what's been shown with all this. And Pats suspended the two guys because the NFL asked them to. That was some of the ton of cooperation the Pats actually did, but that people "forget" to acknowledge.
Kraft is mad because he didn't call Goodell and the NFL a bunch of incompetents/liars from the start, had his whole org cooperate, and still got screwed on the deal. He knows he made a mistake "I have come to the conclusion this was never about what was fair and
just," Kraft said. "I was wrong to put my faith in the league."
