All-pro linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers Joey Porter is speaking out. He says, "They [the Patriots] cheated, there should be an asterisk. They cheated and they got caught. Why, if you have nothing to hide, would you destroy [the evidence]? That's how I've looked at it from the beginning. Why destroy something that doesn't have to be destroyed? Let everyone know what was on the tapes. Why would you destroy them so fast? They went from zero to 60 overnight and [Belichick] went from a good coach to a great great coach and he got caught cheating."
Porter says that many other NFL players feel the same way.
"If you're to tell me that happened, there's no way I can look at it and feel like I didn't get cheated," Porter said.
Porter also said that NFL players he knows share similar sentiments about the Patriots concerning Spygate.
"Anybody I know that lost to them in big games, they're very upset about it," Porter said. |

#15 Posted: 2/6/2012 4:07:21 PM Losing by 4 in the final 2 minutes of the Super Bowl is nothing to be ashamed about.
However....having home field advantage throughout the playoffs and then getting embarrassed and blown out by 17 points is something to be ashamed about. |

No one said everybody. Look at what he said as he was stating the Pats are not the only team, not that EVERYBODY is doing it.
I agree that not all the teams were doing this, but I certainly think that more than 1 team in the NFL was.
The Patriots have also gone onto 2 superbowls since the incident, which can't be said for some teams in their whole franchise tenure. Oh and one of those seasons was undefeated until the SB which is pretty impressive itself. |

Interesting find, however it would be a more relevant stat if you could also provide how many SB teams have had a 1000yd rusher. |

#23 Posted: 2/22/2012 9:50:15 PM Actually, no. It does not matter if the Steelers had TWO running backs gain a 1000 yards EACH, and DID NOT make the SB.
We're talking current history here............about the Patriots |

Fair enough. I certainly think any team that has a good/great rusher gives them a solid position to win a game, but I don't think thats the reason why they lost 2 superbowls. Pats had the ability to win both but didn't make the one play in each game that would have won them (tyree not catching it, and welker catching his).
Unfortunately they didn't win, but I expect the Pats to continue to put themselves in good position to get to a SB and win due to a weaker AFC at the moment and solid drafting/trading.
I still believe that they weren't the only NFL team to have done the taping, and it will loom over the organization regardless of how many more superbowls BB and TB can win over the next few years. |
