The film, released last year, is
reported to have cost more than £55million to produce. Although it made
£145million worldwide, it is not clear how much was spent on marketing
and advertising, causing the loss.
The disappointing performance has even put the film’s expected sequels in doubt.
MGM nor co-producers Sony Pictures has committed to making films of The
Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest,
which complete Larsson’s trilogy.
