18 days until post time!

So I'll wait to see who ACTUALLY runs in the race before speculating on this race. The Derby is just another race to me a $20 winner in the Derby pays exactly the same as a $20 winner in a N3L at CD.  Not a big deal to me one way or the other.

My cousin says the same thing because he can cap those lower tier races.....I have a hard time capping them. I absolutely love the KD & have ever since I was 19 yrs old.

Reason: because horses like Smarty Jones, Big Brown, War Emblem & many more would never pay the prices they do on derby day if it was any other race.

All due respect Gambler, I'm on a limb you spend a couple extra minutes on the Derby.

I agree with a lot of you guys, I could talk about this all day.

I live for the big days in racing. Mostly the breeders cup but the derby is right there. For the general handicapping population it is near impossible to get inside information on horses. The derby and breeders cup allows me to get backstage and see how these horses are really doing. The other 364 racedays are just me betting blind with a racing form/horse watches. You put the time in and the derby/breeders cup can be very rewarding days with big prices. I tend to like chalk and when you can get amazing horses like barbaro at 5-1 it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. There is just so much information available. I love it

Another average field at best.  There has not been a quality Derby field since 2005 with the likes of Bellamy Road, Bandini, Afleet Alex, and Flower Alley.  All of those horses had over 100 Beyers entering the Derby and it took Giacomo to defeat Afleet Alex after he contested a hot pace throughout.  To say this is a great Derby field is a ludicrous statement.

Not sure I agree with this. The Super Bowl is just another game because it offers the same value as any other game. But this race offers huge value. Fact: Atlass played a five horse tri box last year (and gave it to me) and it payed well for a moderate investment.

Fact: 315 you post four horses every race you cap even if its a three horse field. So get all your colored pens and take your top four and play the ex/tri box. I am sure you can dig up a few extra bucks or find somebody to share the cost of the ticket with you. But that would be the hard part. 315 this is your mission, do you accept? This post will self destruct in 15 seconds.

Its a great field for us gamblers. And maybe we will see a monster come out of this. These are just babys and I see loads of talent and potenial. I agree this might not be the best bunch we have seen but a very competitive bunch.

And lastly this forum will be swamped like always with wanna be's that get bragging rights for their friends. Happens every year. The best cappers I know are in this thread.

But we are missing a few. Phil,Vet,Mids,Bombs,Soze,Po,Cigar to name a few. Sorry if I missed anybody.

Hey anybody seen Soze?

And of course DJ. Who keeps giving out my e-mail to Jessica Alba. She stalking me.

Sorry forgot the GL freaks dude. Great capper. Believe it.

2007 gave us Curlin, Street Sense, Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday and even Scat Daddy who is already proving to be a valuable stallion.

CONGRATULATIONS! A thread with a lively, intelligent discussion, some great pros and cons and a lot of interaction.

I wish it was like this everyday of the year.

Regardless of the talent level of the 2012 Derby entrants compared to past years, there seems to be no clear cut winner. Therefore, I think we'll have a lot of fun the next two weeks discussing this race.

Kinda interesting but I'm leaning toward Bodemeister at this point. Can Union Rags get 1 1/14?

I would bet  $200 to win $50 UR doesnt win the derby..........
