First pick: Sevastova - Cirstea: Cirstea -3.5 games
Sevastova already played 4 matches at Pattaya. 3 of them were very tough matches and very long . Although her first serve % is 50%, she wins over 68% of the balls played. But here's her downside: she makes lots of double faults (8-10/match) and gives lots of break points; each opponent had at least 9 break points against her, Heather Watson even having 15 break points. She only lost 4 break points each match but she didn't played against great players.
Cirstea is hoping to reach semifinals again after last year she was defeated by Maria Kirilenko. The two of them could meet again if Sorana wins against Sevastova and Kirilenko wins against Vesnina. Cirstea began to show patience while playing; she doesn't rush shots so often anymore. Her first serve % is also 50% and she wins also over 68% of the points. But she doesn't make so many double faults (only 3-4) and doesn't give her opponents so many break points ( Mattek-Sands had 4 and won 2, Rodionova had 2 and won 1).
I think Sorana is the valuable player in this matchup and she can win this match and cover the spread if she continues to play with patience like she did so far.

Errani reached the final playing just 1 match, as Rybarikova and Bertens retired after half a set. The only match she played was against Carla Suarrez Navarro and Errani won after 3 sets. The italian player likes to play a defensive style and uses the whole length of the court but she won't be able to do that against Barthel, mainly because Mona has a very fast and hard to return serve. Navarro had 23 break points and managed to break Sara's serve 7 times. Errani rarely serves aces and her first serve average speed is around 92mph.
Barthel has a very good serve but sometimes she struggles with her first serve. That was the case in the first 2 matches when her first serve % was around 55%. In the last 2 matches she managed to raise her % to 67% and win more of the points played with the first ball (80-85% vs 75-70%). In the first match against Urzsula Radwanska she gave the polish player 11 chances to break her serve and lost 3 of them. Since then, in her last 3 matches, she gave a total of 10 break points and lost just 3 of them (2 against Vinci and 1 against Bartoli). Serves at least 4 aces every match and has an aggressive style of play. Last year she lost in the QF against Wickmayer, but now she played better and better as the tournament progressed. First serve average speed is around 109mph.
Barthel's aggressive style might be too much for Errani to handle. Of course some risks are involved: if Mona makes too many unforced errors Errani could take control of the match and win very easy. Sara struggled against Suarez Navarro, a player with a similar style of play as Barthel.Bottom line: i don't think that Errani has the strength to win and Barthel should win this match and cover the spread.

Barthel wins 75/76 and the pick is void, but this was bad luck at it's finest. Mona with 53 unforced errors, served for the match while having 5-3 and lost serve. Had 2 match points at 6-5 and missed them both.

I know this is Rafa's second match after his injury but i don't think that Nadal would like to spend to much time on the court today and risking to injure his knee again. Del Bonis played already 4 matches at Del Mar but all of them were against no-names like Pela, Bagnis, Andreozzi or Ferrol, each player having at least 4 break points against Del Bonis. Excepting his match with Andreozzi, Del Bonis had tough matches. Nadal only needs 2-3 break points to break Federico's serve; if he gets 5-6 break points from Del Bonis i think that this match will be over quickly.
Second pick:
Berlocq - Giraldo: over 21 games A match between two clay specialists. They meet once on clay, last year at Acapulco, and Giraldo won in 3 sets. Even though Giraldo had a tough match against Alund and won in 3 sets, he only lost his serve twice. Berlocq saved also 4 break points against Kuznetsov and managed to win the match without being broken. Both have good % on their first serve (over 70). In my opinion this match is gonna be a close one and i think that we will see at least 1 tiebreaker.
Pretty weird day today in tennis but i hope that this 2 matches break today's pattern and end well for me.
Thanks for your time and BOL to all of you tennis bettors!

Nadal struggled a little bit in the beginning of the match against Del Bonis, but played very well afterwards. Rafa's serve has very well placed and he managed to win 65% of the points played with the first serve. Del Bonis had 1 break point in the beginning of the match and won it. Rafa served 4 aces and showed good movement around the court, a sign that his knee is feeling good again.
Gimeno Traver had a tough match in the first round against Joao Sousa. First serve % was only 39% and he made 11 double faults. Sousa had 11 break points and managed to win 3 of them, but Traver's experience was the key factor which helped him obtain the victory. In the second round against Montanes he played a little better, first serve % was 55% and made only 2 double faults. He wins over 70% of the points with the first serve. Montanes had 8 break points and won 2 of them.
They met once on clay, at Barcelona in 2011, and Rafa won 61/61. Nadal doesn't need too many break points to take control of the match. In my opinion, Nadal shouldn't have any problems today. Nadal's defensive style of play will force Gimeno to play the extra ball, a thing which exposes him to unforced errors. Also Rafa had an extra day off: he played 2 days ago, Traver played last night.

Had tons of luck with today's pick. Gimeno-Traver had 4 rebreak points when Nadal was leading 5-4 and serving for the match. Nadal managed to win 61/64.
