I think they over paid for him, but what does that matter to us it isn't our money. All we can do is evaluate the trade. They did a great job in getting him for 2 years because of his age, but he still has a lot of production left. They needed someone better to play in right field. They will get Victor Martinez back and now they have signed Torii Hunter. They have obviously just made their team better and I think they did a good job in this situation.

I think he plays left field. They have Boesch in RF. Or maybe they move Boesh to left? Hunter is not worth 13 mil a year. That is what Beltran got LY, and Beltran is a lot better than Hunter right now IMO.
But Detroit figures they have a short window to contend, so I understand the move. Hunter will be a good mentor to Austin JAckson.

Yeah they over paid, but the 2 years is good, he probably wanted more years and they said no, he's kinda old. He put up good numbers last year though. He played right field for the Angels and will play right field for the Tigers, but he can play anywhere in the outfield. They dont care about Boesch, he can play on the bench or left. They got Berry, Dirks, and Don Kelly as well.

Great pick up IMO.
I love the signing. The Tigers got more athletic with this move. He will play right field and Dirks will be in left. Hunter more than likely will bat second behind Jackson. Not that it really matters but Don Kelly is gone. No one cares about Boesch nor Raburn.

I would be very happy if I was a Tigers fan. AL champs just got better and Im looking for them to have a better year with more wins now that they have played together for a year. Jackson/Hunter/Cabrera/Fielder is deadly in the AL. I think the WhiteSox and Indians will still be good in the Central though. I think it goes Detroit and Cleveland behind them.

Wow, Martinez is a threat in that line up and a factor behind the plate. I forgot about him. That is a great 1-5 and they have a good bench in Quintin Berry aswell. Their bullpen needs some serious work and they need to learn how to play defense. They are still slow around the base pads, but adding a veteran into that line up will be a little better. It's good to have a seasoned veteran like Hunter in the dugout as well especially since he isnt worn out. Still got two more solid years left in him and I think it was a good idea to sign him before anyone else did. This team is far ahead of any in the America League as of today, I just hope they start the season not as sluggish as last year. Not good to start slow and have to fight towards the end.

As it stands now Dirks in left field with Hunter in right, but who knows what other moves Illitch will continue to pay for. Boesch is an after thought and no lock to be on the 25 man roster. I am not advocating, nor saying it is likely, but I could still see the Tigers signing Melky Cabrera for a one year deal making Dirks the solid 4th. GM Dombrowski was rather lukewarm at best at tabbing Dirks as an everyday player earlier this off season. Dirks can play all the OF positions, with CF being his weakest but Jackson doesn't need many days off. He could then spell Hunter a couple times a week against right handers and give give the other two their days off. Plenty of at bats still available for him.

Although Melky will be more like a .270 hitter he will still be valuable asset to any team. Detroit needs a good defensive player anywhere and Melky is a great left fielder. I seen him in person gun two people down from deep left to second base. Great arm.

What about Garcia, that kid has mad skills...Cabrera's little brother...
The kid is still only 21 years old. This gives the Tigers the opportunity to "overrippen" him in the minors. I think it is best for him to start the season at AAA and continue to develop his power stroke. I really love this kid and I believe he might wind up being better than Nick Castellanos who gets the hype as the Tigers top prospect.

Well my take a look at Melky theory lasted all of two hours, lol. Surprised anyone gave him two years, but the Jays are sure showing they want to make a run next year.
