Can u play table games / poker games to get the rooms comped? Other questions How do you place a bet in the sportsbooks? Do u just walk up to the ticket counter and tell the associate I wanna put $100 on this line etc.? or do they give a u a slip? Total noob lol I am I know Im not old enough for Vegas but will be in a couple weeks.

Rookie Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 502 Location: Florida	#3 Posted: 3/15/2012 9:25:41 PM if you plan on hitting Vegas a few times a year at least,concentrate most if not all of your play at one property,always using your card that you will sign up for before gambling a nickle..It may take a few visits to get a feel on your favorite or 'lucky' casino,but eventually some comp offers will come rolling in. One thing everyone hates to see is a posse of young turds rolling around the floor drunk and being loud...I don't think that is you-being 20 and posting on a gambling MB is pretty cool IMO.Sounds like you're head is on straight.Sure catch a buzz and play,but acting like a douche is not a money-making prop. Don't be afraid to ask the dealer what to do if a card /bet situation comes up and you're not sure what the correct play is.They will help and even help you better sometimes if you tip them a buck or two for the help.Same for the coctail servers tableside..You basically have to tip the staff first to ensure a legit chance to make some $$ Karma? Whatever you want to call it. Oh and look at the big board in the sportsbook -each game has a number,so you tell the teller that game number and what type bet you want and amount.Remember you have to put up the juice up front,lay $-110 to make a $100.. Pocket a couple nice clean chips from every casino you hit and store them away...If somebody told me this in 1986- some of those chips from casinos long gone are worth decent $ on ebay etc. Best wishes and have a f'n great time

Example: 115 North Carolina +3 116 Duke -3 If you wish you pick North Carolina, tell them you want 115, and if you want the money line tell them. In most cases they expect it to be on the line (+3) unless you tell them otherwise. As far as comps go you won't acquire that many with sports but it depends on how much you wager. I suggest signing up for a players card just to do so and you accumulate any comp points you can at the casinos that offer them. The Palms and Hilton are the two I prefer, because I use the points on family and friends who visit, but it takes time to earn them depending on how much you're wagering. You can attempt to get comped rooms once you establish yourself but expect to hear no.

I've walked past books in Vegas and come get a peak of the board and I just see numerous lines that look super confusing compared to what you can do online nowadays. Sucks I have to wait till next march madness to feel the atmosphere tho Thanks guys for the info

It is easier for them to track the amount you are playng, how often, and for how much that way. I believe I heard somewhere that they won't start tracking your play at a table game unless you are betting a minimum of $15 a hand, so keep that in mind. Like other have said, get the players club card right away at any property you play at. It lets them know you are playing there, and makes it easier for them to get your information so they can send you offers. It takes some time playing to build up your comp points unless you are betting huge sums for a long period of time, i.e. if you're betting $100 a hand at blackjack and playing for four hours a session, you're going to be comped a lot faster than playing $5 a hand for an hour. Don't be afraid to ask casino personnel about any deals available and mention you're new there. They want to accommodate you.
