Recap

Flames 4, Avalanche 3: Mike Cammalleri scored a power-play goal with 3:30 remaining in the third period to snap a tie and give visiting Calgary its first win in five games.

Jiri Hudler and Joe Colborne each recorded a goal and an assist while rookie Sean Monahan also tallied for the Flames, who scored a total of four goals over their previous five games. Karri Ramo turned aside 22 shots as Calgary salvaged the finale of the three-game season series with just its second win in its last 10 overall contests (2-6-2).

First overall draft pick Nathan MacKinnon registered his second straight two-goal performance with a pair of power-play tallies and Paul Stastny notched a goal and two assists for the Avalanche, who fell to 2-1-1 on their seven-game homestand. Jean-Sebastien Giguere finished with 15 saves as Colorado's seven-game point streak at home came to an end.

Calgary, which scored just one goal in its last four games, got on the board 1:08 into the contest as the rebound of Monahan's shot from the right faceoff circle caromed off Jamie McGinn's skate and into the net. MacKinnon single-handedly put Colorado in front, jamming the puck past Ramo at the left post at 7:17 before ripping a shot from the slot past the goaltender with 5:28 left in the first period.

Colborne forged a tie with 4:50 remaining in the second by tipping TJ Galiardi's shot from the right point past Giguere and Hudler gave Calgary its second lead when he backhanded the puck between the goaltender's pads while standing with his back to the net 2:28 later. Stastny drew the Avalanche even with a backhander between Ramo's pads from the left side of the crease midway through the third, but Cammalleri converted a feed from behind the net by Hudler for the winning tally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog's assist on Stastny's goal was his 100th career point. ... Colorado C Ryan O'Reilly appeared to injure his left arm during the celebration of Stastny's goal and immediately retreated to the locker room but returned later in the period. ... Flames D Ladislav Smid was named to the Czech Republic's Olympic roster while G Reto Berra was selected to represent Switzerland at next month's Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
