Jets 3, Islanders 2: Defenseman Mark Stuart scored his first goal of the season to spark a three-goal second period and Al Montoya made 28 saves as Winnipeg improved to 2-0-0 on its six-game road trip.

Captain Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi also scored for Winnipeg, which held on after building a 3-0 advantage to improve to 6-2-2 in its last 10 overall contests.

Captain John Tavares recorded a goal and an assist for the Islanders, who lost for the ninth time in 11 games. Kevin Poulin finished with 26 saves but allowed three goals in a span of five shots in the middle session.

Tavares slid his team-leading 11th goal between Montoya’s pads with six minutes remaining in the third to cut the deficit to one, but the Islanders could not cash in during a man advantage with five minutes left.
