Recap

Senators 3, Devils 2 (SO): Rookie Mika Zibanejad scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout as host Ottawa posted its fifth win in six games.

Defenseman Chris Phillips and Colin Greening tallied in regulation while Ben Bishop made 32 saves for the Senators, who have earned points in nine of their last 10 home contests (8-1-1).

Captain Daniel Alfredsson gave Ottawa the edge in the second round of the shootout, but Travis Zajac fired the puck into the top right corner of the net in the third to keep New Jersey alive. Zibanejad lifted a backhander past Martin Brodeur on the Senators' next chance, and Bishop made a glove save on Andrei Loktionov to clinch the win.

Loktionov and defenseman Marek Zidlicky scored while Brodeur stopped 12 shots for the Devils, who extended their point streak against the Senators to six games (3-0-3).

Phillips opened the scoring 2:12 into the game with a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that beat a screened Brodeur. After Loktionov forged a tie at 15:13 of the second, Greening buried a rebound with 17 seconds remaining in the period to put Ottawa back in front. But Zidlicky beat Bishop high to the glove side 6:05 into the third to again knot the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brodeur received help from his right post three times in the first period, including twice against Kyle Turris on the same play. Turris' original shot hit the post and bounced back toward Brodeur. The puck caromed off the back of the goaltender's leg and rolled toward the goal line before again glancing off the iron. ... New Jersey lost two players in the first period as captain Bryce Salvador suffered a lower-body injury and right wing Stephen Gionta went down with an upper-body injury. ... Ottawa D Sergei Gonchar was kept off the scoresheet, ending his franchise-record 10-game assist streak.
