Stars 3, Sharks 1: Jaromir Jagr and Michael Ryder scored man-advantage goals 88 seconds apart as host Dallas won the battle of the power plays and posted its first regulation win over San Jose in the last nine meetings.

Jagr added an assist, Jamie Benn scored a goal and set up another and Cristopher Nilstorp made 31 saves en route to his first career victory. Defenseman Alex Goligoski notched a pair of assists for the Stars, who had lost three of four.

Patrick Marleau scored for the second time in as many nights and Antti Niemi stopped 25 shots for the Sharks, who completed a 1-4-1 road trip and fell to 1-6-3 in their last 10 overall.

After a scoreless first period, Dallas opened the scoring with 58 seconds remaining in the second. Benn fired a pass from the bottom of the right faceoff circle to Jagr, who knocked the puck past Niemi from the doorstep for his fifth goal.

Ryder made it 2-0 just 30 seconds into the third. Goligoski made a lateral pass from the left point to Ryder, who walked down the slot before ripping a shot inside the left post.

The Stars then ran into penalty trouble, and it took the Sharks a mere two seconds to cash in on a 5-on-3 advantage and halve the deficit. Captain Joe Thornton won a faceoff in the left circle and fired the puck across the slot to Marleau, who beat Nilstorp to the stick side at 2:19 for his 12th goal.

Benn restored Dallas' two-goal advantage and sealed the win when he beat a screened Niemi from above the slot with 2:11 remaining.
