Bruins 4, Lightning 2: Nathan Horton registered two goals and rookie defenseman Dougie Hamilton added a pair of assists as visiting Boston held off Tampa Bay.

Horton scored his second of the game 2:33 into the third period, deflecting in defenseman Zdeno Chara’s pass for a 4-2 lead. Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron each had a goal and an assist while Tuukka Rask made 24 saves for the Bruins.

Steven Stamkos and rookie Cory Conacher tallied for the Lightning, who dropped to 6-3-1 at home. Teddy Purcell had two assists and Anders Lindback stopped 22 shots for Tampa Bay.

Horton knocked home a rebound 71 seconds into the contest and Bergeron made it 2-0 at 3:50 with the shot from right faceoff circle after a turnover. The Lightning settled down and halved the deficit before the end of the first, when Stamkos snapped a shot past Rask from the slot at 8:13 after Purcell tapped the puck back to him.

Conacher tied the game nine minutes into the second session, beating Rask to the glove side after Purcell’s pass sprung him in the left circle. The Bruins moved ahead at 13:58, when Marchand got to a loose puck in the slot and fired it past Lindback.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bruins, who improved to 5-1-1 in February, killed off all three of their penalties and have allowed just one power-play goal in eight road games this season. … Horton has 26 goals and 46 points in 45 games against Tampa Bay in his career. … The Lightning have sold out all 10 of their home games.
