Flyers 4, Hurricanes 3 (OT): Daniel Briere scored 1:47 into overtime as host Philadelphia continued its mastery of Carolina.
Brayden Schenn collected a goal and two assists and Matt Read scored his team-leading fifth goal. Jakub Voracek also tallied and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 30 shots for the Flyers, who defeated the Hurricanes for the eighth time in nine home meetings to improve to 19-2-2 in the series.
Jeff Skinner extended his point streak to four games with his sixth goal of the season. Defenseman Joe Corvo and Jiri Tlusty also scored and Cam Ward finished with 28 saves for Carolina, which dropped a 5-3 decision to Philadelphia last Saturday.
Briere sent the Wells Fargo Center faithful home happy after skating down the left wing and firing a shot in overtime that caromed off both the post and Ward before trickling into the net. Both of Briere's goals this season have come against the Hurricanes.
Voracek answered Skinner's goal just 15 seconds later by tipping Schenn's shot past Ward for his third goal of the campaign and second in as many games. Corvo forged a 3-3 tie just 7:58 into the third period after his shot deflected off Flyers defenseman Kurtis Foster.
