STARS 3, FLAMES 2 (SO): All-Star Jamie Benn and Loui Eriksson scored in the first two rounds of the shootout and Kari Lehtonen denied both attempts as visiting Dallas skated to its sixth win in seven games.
Michael Ryder scored his fourth goal in as many contests and Eriksson added a shorthanded tally for the Stars, who moved past the idle San Jose Sharks into seventh place in the Western Conference.
Curtis Glencross scored for the fourth time in as many contests and captain Jarome Iginla also tallied for the Flames, who fell for the sixth time in seven games.
After Benn scored to open the shootout, Eriksson's attempt just trickled past Miikka Kiprusoff to give Dallas a two-goal advantage in the extra session. Lehtonen then denied Alex Tanguay to end the game.
Iginla leveled the contest at 2-2 exactly eight minutes into the third period. The captain settled a loose puck off a brilliant between-the-legs feed from Michael Cammalleri before beating Lehtonen. The tally was Iginla's 25th of the season, marking the 13th straight campaign he has netted at least that many tallies.
After Eriksson leveled the contest at 1-1 with a brilliant individual effort, Ryder gave Dallas its first lead nearly 3 1/2 minutes later.
With his team on the power play, Eriksson alertly fed Ryder on the doorstep. Ryder's first shot was denied but calmly wristed his second attempt past Kiprusoff for his team-leading 28th goal of the season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lehtonen was credited with his first assist of the season on Eriksson's goal. ... Calgary LW Lance Bouma suffered an upper-body injury in the second period and did not return. ...
