Recap
Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis each recorded a goal and an assist as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 on Tuesday for their season-high fourth straight victory.
Lecavalier gave the Lightning the lead for good 2-1 on the power play 8:19 into the second period, deflecting Bruno Gervais' shot over goaltender Curtis Sanford with his back to the net. Lecavalier then set up St. Louis with a nifty saucer pass on a give-and-go at 16:56.
Mike Angelidis recorded his first career goal on his second NHL shift to give Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead in the first period. Angelidis stole the puck from Colton Gillies in the neutral zone, skated in and beat Sanford with a backhand. Angelidis became the fifth Lightning player to score his first goal in his first NHL game.
Columbus rookie Ryan Johansen’s goal 5:40 into the third cut the lead to 3-2, but Nate Thompson re-installed the Lightning’s two-goal cushion at 11:29 when he stuffed a shot through Sanford.
Lecavalier and St. Louis have multiple points in five of their last eight games and extended their point streaks to six games in handing Columbus its fourth straight loss.
The Lightning have beaten the Blue Jackets twice this season and four of the last five.
Defenseman Brett Lebda scored his first of the season in his second game and R.J. Umberger had a pair of assists for Columbus.
