Recap

Tomas Fleischmann broke a deadlock 7:15 into the second period and added two assists to help the Florida Panthers earn a rare win in San Jose with a 5-3 triumph over the Sharks on Saturday.

Stephen Weiss had a goal and two assists as the first-place Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak at HP Pavilion in what was the teams’ lone meeting of the season. Marco Sturm, Jack Skille and Dmitry Kulikov each added tallies.

Logan Couture had a pair of goals and Jamie McGinn scored for the Sharks, who have dropped three of four.

San Jose went ahead 2-1 in the first before the Panthers scored three unanswered goals in the second. Sturm’s tally evened things at 5:37 and Fleischmann put Florida in front less than two minutes later.

Following a Sharks’ turnover in their own end, Weiss retrieved the puck and tapped it to Versteeg out in front of the slot. Versteeg spotted Fleischmann skating in from the right side and feed the left winger, who finished from close range past a diving Thomas Greiss.

Skille pushed the advantage to 4-2 with a shorthanded tally 51 seconds before the second intermission.

Couture’s second tally pulled the Sharks within a goal with 6:21 remaining. But Kulikov converted on the power play with 1:35 to go to finalize things.
