Patrick O'Sullivan and Radim Vrbata had shootout goals as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated Toronto 3-2 Tuesday, extending their winning streak over the Maple Leafs to six games.

O'Sullivan struck first in the sudden death format, moving from right to left before turning sideways and rifling the shot past Toronto netminder Ben Scrivens. Mike Smith stopped Nikolai Kulemin with his stick at the other end, and Vrbata ended things with a nifty backhand after getting Scrivens to commit to the forehand.

Toronto hasn't beaten Phoenix since 2003, and hasn't prevailed over the Coyotes at home since 2002.

The Coyotes wasted no time getting to Scrivens in regulation, opening the scoring just 1:54 into the game. A Dion Phaneuf turnover at the Phoenix blue line led to a Coyotes 2-on-1, and Shane Doan finished it off by redirecting the puck past Scrivens' left pad.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson extended the advantage 3 1/2 minutes later, rifling a slapshot from the right point that eluded a partially screened Scrivens.

Following a scoreless second period, Mike Komisarek put the Maple Leafs on the board early in the third with his first goal of the season. Pinching in from the left point, he one-timed a pass from Matthew Lombardi past Smith to end an 88-game goalless drought that spanned exactly one year.

Phil Kessel's speed led to the second Toronto goal at 4:41. He burst in from the left side to pounce on a rebound of a Kulemin shot and direct it into an open net for his league-best 13th goal
