Kansas State dominates Baylor in second half

Kansas State dominated the second half to claim a 42-21 victory over Baylor on Saturday at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas
The Wildcats (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) trailed by a touchdown at halftime before running back Alex Barnes ran for three touchdowns in the third quarter to put Kansas State in control.
Barnes finished with 129 rushing yards and the four scores on 19 carries.
Baylor started freshman quarterback Zach Smith in place of Seth Russell, whose season was ended by a dislocated ankle in the previous game against Oklahoma. Smith completed 27 of 45 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns, but he tossed three interceptions.
Kansas State opened the second half with a 10-play, 84-yard touchdown drive, which Barnes capped with an 11-yard touchdown run to tie it at 14.
The Wildcats put together a 13-play, 87-yard scoring drive to take the lead on Barnes's 1-yard touchdown.
Then Kansas State defensive back Donnie Starks intercepted a Smith pass to give the Wildcats the ball at the Baylor 21. It took just three plays to turn the pick into points as Barnes ran three straight times, including the 2-yard touchdown for a 28-14 lead.
The defenses controlled the first half until Baylor (6-4, 3-4) took advantage of a Kansas State miscue on special teams.
Kansas State punt returner Dominique Heath fumbled a catch at his own 22 and Baylor deep snapper Ross Matiscik recovered for the Bears.
Baylor needed just two plays to score as Smith hit wide receiver Blake Lynch for a 25-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead with 6:43 remaining in the second quarter.
Kansas State answered with a six-play, 90-yard touchdown drive, which fullback Winston Dimel capped with a 2-yard touchdown run.
But Baylor pushed back in front by the half after forcing another Kansas State turnover.
Wildcats quarterback Jesse Ertz lost the handle on the ball at his own 37 and Patrick Levels recovered for Baylor with 42 seconds left before halftime.
Smith hit Chris Pratt for a 24-yard touchdown to give the Bears a 14-7 lead with 10 seconds left in the second quarter.
Kansas State outgained Baylor's offense in the first two quarters, but a 2-0 deficit in turnovers put the Wildcats behind on the scoreboard.
