Corey Davis and Western Michigan made history in a 52-20 blowout win over Ball State on Tuesday night.

The senior put together the best receiving day in Mid-American Conference history, 272 yards, and Western Michigan streaked to a program-record 11th straight win as the Broncos topped the Cardinals in Muncie, Ind.

The Broncos, No. 23 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday, improved to 9-0 (5-0 MAC). The 11-game win streak exceeded a school record that had stood since 1941.

Davis caught 12 passes and scored on plays covering 57, 35 and 62 yards. He became the fourth player in the nation with three TD catches and 200 yards in a game this season. He now has 47 career touchdown passes, which ties the conference record.

Quarterback Zach Terrell completed 23 of 34 passes for 367 yards and the three touchdown passes to Davis. Junior running back Jarvion Franklin surpassed 100 yards on the ground for the fifth straight game, producing 109 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.

As explosive as the Broncos' offense was, the defense was the unit that scored first. With 12:08 left in the first quarter, junior cornerback Darius Phillips returned an interception 75 yards for his third pick-six this season. He also scored in consecutive games vs. Georgia Southern and Central Michigan.

Four plays after Phillips' score, Ball State tied it with a 50-yard run by freshman Malik Dunner.

Then Franklin and Davis took over. Franklin capped an 80-yard drive with a 23-yard touchdown run, and Davis scored from 57 yards on the first play of the next possession.

Davis added a 35-yard scoring reception with 2:40 left in the half, putting Western Michigan up 28-10. He then put the game out of reach with a 62-yard score on the first play of the second half.

The Broncos dominated despite giving up 155 rushing yards to Ball State's James Gilbert -- his fifth straight 100-yard game. Gilbert had 29 carries.

The Cardinals (4-5, 1-4) played without injured quarterback Riley Neal, and backup Jack Milas threw two first-half interceptions and completed just 20 of 38 passes for 199 yards. His only TD pass came with 45 seconds left, a 14-yard connection with Damon Hazelton Jr.

NOTES: Western Michigan WR Corey Davis needs 296 yards to set the NCAA record for career receiving yards. He has 4,709. Trevor Insley had 5,005 yards with Nevada in 1996-99. ... The Broncos were plus-3 on turnovers for the night after starting the day at plus-12. ... The Broncos play at Kent State next Tuesday, while Ball State will play host to Eastern Michigan that night.
