Baylor 69, Wofford 3: Bryce Petty threw threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns and Lache Seastrunk ran for 111 yards and two scores as the host Bears destroyed the Terriers for their fifth straight win dating to last season.
The Bears kicked off their final year at historic Floyd Casey Stadium in style, racing to a 28-0 first-quarter lead. Baylor, which set or tied 37 offensive school records last season, is averaging 52.6 points in its five-game run dating to last year.
Baylor rolled up 692 yards and held Wofford to 233 in the teams' first meeting.
Freshman Seth Russell relieved Petty in the third quarter and kept up the onslaught, throwing a 70-yard touchdown to Corey Coleman and running for a 13-yard score. Shock Linwood and Glasco Martin added rushing touchdowns, and Tevin Reese had a team-high five catches for 97 yards and a score.
The Terriers, who have reached the FCS playoffs five of the past six years, tried three different quarterbacks but none found success. They broke the shutout midway through the third quarter on Kasey Redfern’s 22-yard field goal.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Petty, a 6-3, 230-pound junior, had thrown 14 career passes coming into this game… Seastrunk went over 100 yards rushing for the sixth time in his last seven games… Baylor has nine interceptions in its last five games.
