Purdue 56, Indiana 35: Robert Marve tossed four touchdown passes - including a pair to Akeem Shavers in the fourth quarter - as the host Boilermakers became bowl-eligible after winning the Old Oaken Bucket for the second straight season.

Shavers added a 1-yard touchdown to go along with his 225 yards from scrimmage (126 rushing, 99 receiving) as Purdue (6-6, 3-5 Big Ten) secured its first three-game winning streak since 2007. The late surge may not be enough to save the job of head coach Danny Hope, who has come under fire after posting a 22-27 mark during his four seasons at the helm.

Stephen Houston had three rushing touchdowns in the first half and Cameron Coffman passed for a score and ran for another for Indiana (4-8, 2-6), which fell for the eighth time in 10 outings.

The Hoosiers looked in prime position to pull the upset after tying the game at 35-35 following Coffman's 6-yard touchdown pass to Cody Latimer.

The Boilermakers began their ensuing drive at their own 1-yard line, but Marve quickly moved the ball before connecting with Shavers for a 73-yard touchdown. The pair hooked up again on a 26-yard scoring strike before Shavers provided insurance with a 1-yard score just 1:41 later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana defensive back Greg Heban intercepted Marve, but the Purdue quarterback was able to run him down and prevent a return for a score. Marve has endured three torn ACL injuries during his career . ... Boilermakers kick returner Raheem Mostert appeared headed for a touchdown but was tackled inexplicably by teammate Chris Quinn at the Indiana 37-yard line. ... Purdue became bowl eligible in consecutive years for the first time since the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
