Everett Golson passed for 317 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Fighting Irish jumped out to a big lead and easily dispatched the visiting Demon Deacons.

Cierre Woods rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and George Atkinson III added a score on the ground for Notre Dame (11-0), which will try to complete a perfect regular season at Southern California next Saturday.

The Irish, who have struggled at home, came out on fire against Wake Forest (5-6). Woods broke for a 68-yard touchdown on the fourth play of the game and Carlo Calabrese forced a fumble on the Demon Deacons’ ensuing drive, which Notre Dame quickly cashed in on Golson’s first touchdown pass.

Golson hooked up with John Goodman for a 50-yard touchdown the Irish’s next drive and found TJ Jones for a 34-yard score in the second quarter as Notre Dame took a 31-0 lead into the break. Golson finished 20-of-30 for a career-high 346 yards.

Irish senior linebacker and Heisman candidate Manti Te’o was pulled out of the game by coach Brian Kelly early in the fourth quarter and received a standing ovation from the Senior Day crowd.

Tanner Price was limited to 153 yards passing for Wake Forest, which will have one more chance to become bowl eligible next week when it hosts Vanderbilt.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert (130) caught six passes to break Ken MacAfee’s 35-year-old school record for receptions by a tight end (128). … The Irish are 11-0 for the first time since 1989. … Wake Forest was held to 55 total rushing yards on 25 carries and was outgained 584-209 overall. … Notre Dame is hoping to jump over Oregon and Kansas State for a spot in the BCS Championship game.
