Western Michigan 30, Connecticut 24: Desmond Bozeman returned a fumble 53 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to stem a comeback and lift the host Broncos.

Alex Carder threw for 237 yards and a touchdown before exiting the game with a hand injury late in the third quarter as Western Michigan beat Connecticut for the second straight season. Both teams are 2-2.

Dareyon Chance rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries as the Broncos improved to 4-8 all time against Big East Conference opponents in a game that started 30 minutes late due to lightning. They outlasted Connecticut last season 38-31.

Bozeman turned in the play of the game, sacking Huskies quarterback Chandler Whitmer and returning the fumble for a score to extend the lead to 30-17 with 7:12 left in the game.

Whitmer completed 28 of 44 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns, including a 7-yard scoring pass to Geremy Davis with 54 seconds to play that pulled the Huskies within 30-24.

GAME NOTEBOOK: True freshman Jaime Wilson had eight receptions for 100 yards, giving him three 100-yard games and 37 receptions in his first four games. ... The Huskies allowed a season-high 330 yards in total offense, eclipsing the previous mark of 258 against North Carolina State. ... Andrew Haldeman missed an extra point in the fourth quarter, ending a streak of 142 successful conversions for Western Michigan.
