Cincinnati 23, Delaware State 7: Munchie Legaux passed for two first-half touchdowns as the host Bearcats cruised past the Hornets.
Legaux found Anthony McClung for an 8-yard touchdown on the final play of the first quarter, and connected with Damon Julian on an 11-yard touchdown with 3:03 left in the first half. Cincinnati also got a 1-yard touchdown run from Jameel Poteat in the first quarter, building a 20-0 halftime lead.
The Bearcats (2-0) rolled up 327 of their 468 yards of offense in the first half, but lost two fumbles and threw an interception in the opening two quarters. Legaux finished 20-for-27 passing for 208 yards, and George Winn rushed 24 times for 147 yards.
The Hornets (1-2) finished with 261 yards of total offense and went 3-for-14 on third down. Quarterback Nick Elko, who passed for 353 yards last week against Delaware, finished 18-for-36 for 151 yards. Malcolm Williams scored on a 60-yard run with 11:41 remaining, and rushed for 120 yards on 20 carries.
Tony Miliano added an 18-yard field goal with 54 seconds remaining for Cincinnati, which is off next week before playing No. 13 Virginia Tech on Sept. 29.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bearcats finished with 26 first downs. … Travis Tarpley caught nine passes for 75 yards for Delaware State, which hosts Florida A&M next week. … Penalties hurt Delaware State, which was flagged nine times for 66 yards.
