Syracuse 28, Stony Brook 17:
Ryan Nassib threw for 335 yards and three touchdown passes, including a go-ahead score to Jarrod West, as host Syracuse thwarted an upset attempt by FCS Stony Brook.

Nassib tossed the 13-yard scoring pass to West on Syracuse’s initial drive of the third quarter as the Orange (1-2) snapped a seven-game home losing streak. Nassib also connected on a 61-yard first-quarter touchdown to Prince-Tyson Gulley and a 19-yard fourth-quarter score to Marcus Sales.

Miguel Maysonet rushed for 158 yards and scored on a spectacular 71-yard run late in the second quarter to give Stony Brook (2-1) a 17-14 halftime lead.

The Seawolves, ranked 17th in The Sports Network’s FCS poll, led 10-7 after one quarter on Kyle Essington’s 63-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Norrell and a 20-yard field goal by Wesley Skiffington.

Syracuse went ahead 14-10 on Ashton Broyld’s 22-yard scoring run with six minutes left in the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sales had five receptions for 117 yards. The touchdown catch was his fourth of the season. … Maysonet went over the 3,000-yard career rushing mark since joining Stony Brook’s program after playing his freshman campaign at Hofstra. His Seawolves’ total stands at 3,148. … Syracuse twice came up empty in the second half on drives that reached the Stony Brook 3 and 1-yard lines as the Seawolves delivered two impressive goal-line stands.
