No. 9 South Carolina 49, Alabama-Birmingham 6: Marcus Lattimore set a school record with his 34th career rushing touchdown as the ninth-ranked Gamecocks pulled away from the visiting Blazers.

Lattimore's 2-yard scamper set the record with 1:37 left in the first half, increasing the South Carolina lead to 21-6. The junior finished with 85 yards on 12 carries.

The win for the Gamecocks (3-0) marked career victory No. 200 for head coach Steve Spurrier, who became the 71st coach in college football history to reach the milestone.

The lone negative for South Carolina was the loss of quarterback Connor Shaw late in the second quarter after a shot to his throwing shoulder. This was the second time in three games this season that Shaw was forced to leave a game early with shoulder trouble. Sophomore Dylan Thompson replaced Shaw, throwing for 177 yards on 5-of-10 passing.

Jonathan Perry threw for 219 yards on 17-of-34 passing in the loss for the Blazers (0-2), who were held to just 27 rushing yards for the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Spurrier improved to 46-0 all-time against schools outside of BCS automatic qualifier conferences and 20-0 as head coach of South Carolina... Jackie Williams caught a pass for the 25th consecutive game, the second-longest such streak in UAB history... Shaw was 8-for-14 for 107 yards, a touchdown and an interception before leaving.
