No. 4 Oregon 63, Tennessee Tech 14: Marcus Mariota passed for 308 yards and four touchdowns and Byron Marshall rushed for 125 yards and a score as No. 4 Oregon walloped visiting Tennessee Tech.
De’Anthony Thomas scored touchdowns on a 59-yard run and a 16-yard reception as the Ducks (3-0) jumped out to a 35-7 halftime lead and cruised past the FCS Golden Eagles (2-1), who are winless in 28 games against FBS schools.
Backup quarterback Bryan Bennett rushed for two third-quarter touchdowns and Oregon racked up 652 yards of total offense – 328 passing and 324 on the ground – while limiting Tennessee Tech to 177.
Mariota threw three first-half touchdowns and left after throwing a 3-yard scoring pass to Keanon Lowe two-plus minutes into the third quarter.
Tennessee Tech scored first when Tennessee transfer Da’Rick Rogers caught a 23-yard pass from Tre Lamb. Oregon scored the next 49 points before the Golden Eagles tallied a third-quarter touchdown on Darian Stone’s 6-yard pass to Doug Page.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Thomas touched the ball just six times on offense and had 62 yards on three rushes and 73 yards on three receptions. He also returned four punts for 87 yards. … Tennessee Tech went 1-for-17 on third-down conversions. … The 35-7 halftime lead is Oregon’s smallest of the season thus far. The Ducks led Arkansas State by 40 at halftime and Fresno State by 29 in their first two games.
