Jawan Jamison rushed for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Rutgers used a strong defensive effort to take down Iowa State, 27-13, in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

Chas Dodd threw for just under 200 yards and a touchdown for Rutgers (9-4), which has won five straight bowl games.

Iowa State started off strong offensively but had each of its first two drives stall outside the red zone. That limited the Cyclones to a pair of long field goals and a 6-0 lead.

That was as far as the Iowa State offense would get for a long time, as Rutgers held it to one third down conversion in the first half and would not allow the Cyclones into the red zone again until late in the fourth quarter.

The defense allowed the offense a chance to come back and Jamison quickly gave the Scarlet Knights the lead, capping a 10-play, 92-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown burst. Rutgers would add a field goal and Jamison found the end zone again with a 12-yard run to make it 17-6 at the break.

Iowa State finally found the end zone on a 20-yard run with 10:00 left, cutting it to 20-13.

Dodd put the game away with 5:47 remaining, when he found Brandon Coleman for an 86-yard touchdown.

The Scarlet Knights ended up forcing three turnovers and kept constant pressure on Cyclones quarterback Steele Jantz.
