Lamar Miller rushed for 184 yards and host Miami (Fla.) shut down No. 16 Ohio State’s passing offense to defeat the Buckeyes 24-6 on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes held Ohio State to 35 passing yards as Buckeyes' quarterbacks Joe Bauserman and Braxton Miller combined to complete 4-of-18 passes and throw one interception.

Bauserman looked uncomfortable in the pocket all night, and eventually first-year Ohio State coach Luke Fickell replaced him in the second half with Miller, a freshman speedster.

With the Buckeyes trailing 17-6 midway through the fourth quarter, Miller was making plays with his feet and drove into Miami territory. But the drive ended when Miller fumbled and Miami’s Mike Williams pounced on it at the Hurricanes’ 31-yard line.

Miami responded with a clock-eating 14-play, 69-yard touchdown drive - capped by Mike James' 1-yard run with 33 seconds left.

Ohio State entered the game ranked first among Big Ten teams and fourth nationally in rush defense, but Miami gashed the Buckeyes for 240 yards and 5.7 yards per carry.

Lamar Miller set the tone early when he sliced up the middle for a 54-yard run to set up a score on Miami’s first possession. Jacory Harris passed for 123 yards and two touchdowns in his first game back from suspension.

A pair of 3-yard touchdown passes from Harris to Allen Hurns gave the Hurricanes a 14-0 lead.
