Florida's Chris Rainey had a big night with a rushing touchdown, a touchdown reception and a blocked punt return for a score, as the Gators blew out Florida Atlantic, 41-3, on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Rainey had 79 rushing yards and six catches for 65 yards, and he put the cap on an impressive night by scooping up a punt blocked by Solomon Patton and returning it 21 yards for a touchdown.

Jeff Demps also had a big game for the Gators (1-0), rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. It is the fifth 100-yard rushing game of Demps' career and his first since rushing for 134 yards against South Florida on Sept. 11, 2010.

Florida quarterback John Brantley was 21-for-30 for 228 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.

Florida's defense was stifling, allowing only 134 total yards in the debut of head coach Will Muschamp. Florida improved to 17-6 in games in which a head coach makes his debut with the Gators.

Florida has won both meetings with Florida Atlantic by a combined score of 100-23.
