Jordan Wynn passed for two touchdowns and Utah cruised to a 27-10 victory over Montana State on Thursday in Salt Lake City in the season opener for both teams.

Wynn threw first-quarter touchdown passes of 7 yards to DeVonte Christopher and 5 yards to John White as the Utes scored the game’s first 24 points en route to beating Montana State for the 10th straight time.

White rushed for 150 yards on 19 carries and Brian Blechen had two interceptions as Utah improved to 32-0 against Big Sky Conference opponents.

Blechen, a safety last season now playing linebacker, returned his first interception 39 yards to set up Utah’s first touchdown - an 8-yard scoring drive capped by Wynn’s pass to Christopher two minutes into the contest.

Wynn’s scoring toss to White made it 14-0. Later in the quarter, Matt Martinez blocked a punt to set up a 37-yard field goal by Coleman Petersen with 2:03 left.

White scored on a 10-yard run early in the second quarter to boost Utah’s advantage to 24-0.

The Bobcats got on the board with 35 seconds left in the first half on a 7-yard pass from DeNarius McGhee to Tanner Bleskin.

Petersen booted a 44-yard field goal to make it 27-7 with 9:08 left in the third and Montana State’s Jason Cunningham kicked a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Utah opens Pac-12 Conference play against USC on Sept. 10.
