Cotton Bowl: LSU 41, Texas A&M 24
Jan 7, 2011
Jordan Jefferson passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another as No. 12 Louisiana State took down No. 17 Texas A&M 41-24 on Friday night in the AT&T Cotton Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Stevan Ridley rushed for 84 yards and a score and Most Valuable Player Terrence Toliver caught three touchdown passes for the Tigers (11-2), who moved to 5-1 in bowl games under head coach Les Miles.
The Aggies jumped out to the lead quickly, returning the opening kickoff 69 yards and getting a touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill five plays later. Texas A&M turned an interception from Jefferson into three more points eight minutes later to push it to 10-0.
But the LSU offense got it going from there, with Jefferson finding Toliver for a 42-yard score and then rushing from 1 yard out early in the second to give the Tigers a 14-10 edge.
The Aggies (9-4) grabbed the lead one more time with a touchdown, but Ridley got it right back with a 17-yard scoring burst and Jefferson’s second touchdown pass just before the half sent LSU into the break ahead 28-17.
A 41-yard connection from Jefferson to Toliver at the 12:37 mark of the third quarter made it 35-17 and the Tigers were able to cruise to the finish.
