Ronnie Hillman rushed for 228 yards and three scores and Ryan Lindley passed for 276 and a pair of touchdowns as San Diego State knocked off Navy, 35-14, in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on Thursday.

Vincent Brown caught eight passes for 165 yards and a touchdown for the Aztecs (9-4), who churned out 557 yards of total offense despite playing on a surface that had suffered during torrential rain in southern California this week.

San Diego State took control right from the start, grabbing the lead on Hillman’s 22-yard touchdown run and pushing it to 14-0 five minutes later when Findley and Brown hooked up for a 53-yard scoring play. The Midshipmen scored twice in the second quarter but Hillman added another score to give the Aztecs a 21-14 lead at the break.

Hillman showed he could catch in the second half, hauling in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Lindley and then rushing for another score to put it out of reach.

Ricky Dobbs finished with 108 yards and a score for Navy (8-5), which could not get much done in the passing game.
