The euphoria of Arizona’s 24-7 victory over Washington State on Saturday night was somewhat muted after an injury to quarterback Nick Foles.

Foles, the Pac 10 Conference's leading passer who averages 305 yards per game, left with 14:07 to go in the second quarter when Washington State’s Travis Long knocked him down after a pass completion.

Foles was replaced by junior Matt Scott, who responded by completing 14 of 20 passes for 139 yards. Foles had completed 6 of 7 passes for 71 yards. The severity of his injury was not known.

The Wildcats (5-1, 2-1 Pac-10) dominated the first half, but led only 14-0 as Keola Antolin scored on runs of 9 and 1 yards. Arizona was driving for another score late in the half when Matt Scott had a pass intercepted by freshman Casey Locker at the Washington State 13 with 17 seconds left.

Arizona tacked on a quick touchdown to open the second half as Nic Grigsby scored on a 7-yard run. Alex Zendejas added a 40-yard field goal in the final quarter. Antolin rushed 21 times for 90 yards to lead the Wildcats, and Grigsby carried 14 times for 67 yards.

Washington State (1-6, 0-4) got its only score on a 23-yard pass from Jeff Tuel to Marquess Wilson. Tuel completed 18 of 32 passes for 256 yards, but was intercepted twice. Wilson caught six passes for 130 yards, including one for 83 yards.

Arizona hosts Washington next week, while Washington State plays at Stanford.
